Alpine Ski Injuries and Their Prevention

Knee sprains are the most common injury in Alpine skiers, accounting for approximately 30% of all injuries in adults.[4,5] The medial collateral ligament (MCL) and ACL injuries have a similar incidence at 18 and 16%, respectively.[4] There has not been a reported rise in MCL sprains corresponding to the trend of increased ACL injury incidence. As knee sprains are nowso common, most of the recent research related to injury prevention has been directed at reducing severe knee sprains.

the least skilled and least experienced skiers are the most prone to injury.[25,35]
