1. Definition: 1.1.

When people eat more calories than they burn off, their bodies store the extra calories as fat. When people keep up a pattern of eating more calories than they burn, more and more fat builds up in their bodies. And they suffer what we call overweight or obesity 2. Reason: 2.1. Although genes strongly influence body type and size, the environment also plays a role. People today may be gaining weight because of unhealthy food choices and family habits. 2.2. Sometimes people turn to food for emotional reasons, such as when they feel upset, anxious, sad, stressed out, or even bored. When this happens, they often eat more than they need. 2.3. Less and less teens are being physically active. Generally because of computer, TV and videogame system 3. Effects: 3.1. Research has shown in the past that at least one third of all teenagers who suffer from obesity, also suffer from depression. 3.2. The health effects of obesity are well known: heart disease, diabetes, stroke and other chronic problems that cause premature death. 3.3. Being overweight can also affect a person's joints, breathing, sleep, mood, and energy levels. 3.4. In a culture where children and teens are constantly getting messages about the importance of being beautiful, thin and athletic overweight kids are often discriminated against and socially ostracized. 3.5. Overweight kids are often teased and bullied by their peers, which causes a lack of self-esteem, learning problems, behavior problems and depression. 4. Conclusion: 4.1. What make us overweight are our lifestyle and the way we think about food. So being overweight can impact a person's entire quality of life. 4.2. Teenage obesity affects both the physical and psychological health of young people
