The document describes a proposed system for validating expiration dates and monitoring weight of foodstuffs in a smart home using RFID and SMS/email. The system would use RFID tags to record expiration dates of food items and sensor tags to measure weights. An RFID reader would detect tags and a GSM module would send expiration and weight reports to the homeowner via SMS or email before items expire or quantities run low. The goal is to help avoid food waste by alerting the owner when food needs to be used or replaced. The proposed system provides wireless monitoring of food items in a cost-effective manner.

VALIDATING AND WEIGHT SCALES REPORT OF FOODSTUFFS IN SMART HOME BASED ON SHORT MESSAGE SERVICE (SMS) AND EMAIL
WITH THE RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION (RFID)
SEYED MOHAMMAD BAGHER MOSTAFAVI1 & R. S. KAWITKAR2 Department of E & TC, Sinhgad College of Engineering, University of Pune, Pune, India ABSTRACT In this paper we focus on Validating and Weight scales report of Foodstuffs in Smart Home. The system is Short Message Service (SMS) and Email based Validating and Foodstuffs weight reports in the Smart Home with the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies. The system uses Global System for Mobile communication technology (GSM) and Web thus providing ubiquitous access to the system. This system provides information about the validity and weight scales of foodstuffs and inform the owner before expire date for avoidance from decay and finishing their amount. Also it will receive command from the owner through a SMS or an Email for replying the owner requests. We use the active Sensor-tag for measurement of foodstuffs weight and writeable tags for recording of validity. We present our own idea leading to a concept towards the practical implementation of a validating and weight scale reports of foodstuffs system. The system is wireless therefore more adaptable and cost-effective.
