The Green Scholar project is first and foremost in Philippine history, in fact even across the globe.

There was never a time before, for the last millennia and beyond, when there was Green Scholars. Thus, I think joining the Green Scholar program is one of the best decisions I ever made. It molded me not only to become a better student but more importantly as a better person who has genuine concern and love for Gods creation. The program exposed us to many things concerning the environment solid waste management, wastewater treatment, river clean up, advocacy events and so forth. The Green Scholars enjoy all these things and our skills get sharpened, our knowledge increasing. In the GS Team San Juan, we have learned doing community organizing, participating in river clean ups and conducting waste audit among other things. For me, though, community organizing, river clean up, waste audit and doing other things which the environment need are concerns that does not make me a Green Scholar; I said so because social workers do community organizing, government personnel do river clean up and waste audit, and a lot other people do environmental events but these actions do not make them Green Scholars. For me, possessing a heart that truly and passionately loves the environment plus the actions for environment make me a TRUE Green Scholar. I believe that loving our environment is not just a choice, but a responsibility of every person; doing things for mother Earth is not a burden but an opportunity to show ones care for the created order. I am proud that I am a GREEN SCHOLAR, a person who chose to do small and big steps for our environment.
