n celebration of the July 13

reopening and of the sculptors
vision that inspired its found-
ing, the Rodin Museum will pro-
vide a verdant setting for two
special outdoor performances this
summer by two French pioneer
composers of spectral music,
Tristan Murail and Philippe Hurel.
With the sculptors art serving
as the composers springboard,
the Philadelphia Museum of Art
has commissioned the composi-
tions, titled Spectral Impressions.
Murails work will debut at the
Rodin Museum on July 22 and
Hurels will debut on July 28.
These concerts in the gardens are
5:30 - 8:00 p.m. Tickets are avail-
able by calling 215-235-SHOW or
at philamuseum.org.
On Friday, July 6, members of
the critically-acclaimed Argento
Chamber Ensemble performed a
short Spectral Impressions preview
set during the popular Art After 5
at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
On July 22, when Spectral Impres-
sions is performed outdoors at the
Rodin Museum, audiences will notice new changes around them in the
gardens. These include the return, for the first time in decades, of major
sculptures to their original niches on the building, to positions on the
pathways, and into the arches of the gate that faces the Benjamin Franklin
Parkway.
Spectral Impressions: Music of Tristan Murail July 22
Tristan Murail is a leading exponent of French spectral music, which
focuses on musical color, electronic sound, and impressionist aesthet-
ics. Previously the head of music composition at Columbia University,
Murail was recently appointed com-
poser-in-residence at the Salzburg
Mozarteum. The concert at Rodin
will include the premiere of a new
work entitled The Bronze Age,
specifically commissioned and
composed for the occasion and
setting, which will benefit from a
state-of-the-art surround sound
system. Other Murail works will
include solo works performed by
violist Stephanie Griffin and pianist
Joanna Chao. Works for electron-
ics and ensemble will be conduct-
ed by Michel Galante. One of these
works is Winter Fragments, a col-
oristic homage which is the title
track for Argentos Geijutsu Academy
Award winning CD.

YB Patient Testimonial
I had been suffering from pain for about 15 years and
had been to several doctors all with different ideas.
These ranged from various operations to bone fusion. I
had many X-rays and a couple of MRIs. These tests
showed arthritis, ligament calcification, etc. None of
the doctors would claim that the pain would be cured.
I took take a walk every day at lunch time, but was
coming back to work in more pain every day. Then
one day a Korean gentleman who ran a business at
30th Street Station told me to meet him after work
and he would get me fixed. I figured what's the harm.
I had tried everything already with no success.
So he took me to YB Acupuncture. After one treatment
my ankle pain was gone. I was also experiencing back
pain from prior surgery and was treated for that too.
The pain in the back was also gone after two more
treatments.
I admit that I was highly skeptical that acupuncture
would work, but it did and now I have been pain free
for a year. I now believe that Oriental medicine works.
While going for treatment the third time I was
accompanied by my wife, she had been suffering from
arthritis pain in the knees for some time, she also had
her knees operated on for cartilage tares, and was also
having problems with carpal tunnel in one hand. A
couple of treatments later she was also pain free. My
wife and I also brought two additional skeptics for
treatments, both are now pain free.
I would recommend that everyone should try
acupuncture prior to having surgery.

showcased glimmering jewels, eye-catching gemstones and
gleaming precious metals from Bernie Robbins fashion-

plete without a special birthday cake cutting featuring a
custom-made confec-
tion replicating Bernie

copper gift box, com-
plete with orange but-
terfly and shimmering
ribbon. In 1962, Bernie

Bernie Robbins business model has changed over the years,
its core mission to provide a memorable customer expe-
rience and the finest selections and brands has remained
the same from the start.

T
he Watermark at Logan Square, the continuing care re-
tirement community in Center City, gives seniors access
to a variety of experts on home, health and veterans bene-
fits at three compelling Lunch & Learn presentations in August.
Making Moving Manageable is the Lunch & Learn topic
on Wednesday, August 8 at 11:30 a.m. David L. Reibstein of
HOMARC, a relocation company that focuses exclusively on
senior services, provides sound advice on selling the long-
time family home. Hell share practical tips for profession-
ally staging the house to make it stand out in a crowded
market and strategies for what to keep, donate and how to
pack. His goal is to help attendees make a plan so they reset-
tle with minimal stress.
Tuesday, August 14 at 11:30 a.m., a panel of doctors com-
prised of Howard Brooks D.O., Kia West M.D., and Arpita
Mukherjee M.D. will co-present Your Aging Brain, sharing
the latest approaches to addressing memory loss, ambula-
tory problems, stroke and disturbed sleep. This discussion
is the first of a new medical series called Maturing Health:
Concerns, Detection and Prevention and draws upon the
expertise of internists from University Primary Care at Hahne-
mann.
Finally, on Tuesday, August 21 at 11:30, wartime service
veterans and their surviving spouses will receive valuable
information about the little-known VA Aid and Attendance
Benefits. Scott Ferguson, a Chartered Federal Employee
Counselor for government entitlement programs, will explain
this tax free pension benefit that provides funds for non-
reimbursed medical expenses. He will detail how former
service members and their surviving spouses can deter-
mine if they qualify for and claim this benefit, and the impor-
tance of incorporating this benefit into an overall financial
plan. Aid and Attendance specifically benefits those who
served during wartime, whether they were on the front lines
or stateside.
Seating is limited and advance registration is required for
all Lunch and Learns. This free series will be accompanied
by a light buffet lunch. The Watermark at Logan Square is locat-
ed just off the Benjamin Franklin Parkway at Two Franklin
Town Boulevard in Philadelphia. To attend or learn more,
call The Watermark at 215-240-8915.

CSCP Annual Myrna Brind Lecture and Dinner:
Caring for Senior Adults with Cancer
Sixty percent of cancer in the U.S. occurs in persons over 65, and the
risk of developing cancer increases with age. As people age they also are
faced with other chronic illnesses making cancer treatment a greater

W
hile recipes for diabetics often implement synthetic
ingredients, such as artificial sweeteners, which fail
to succeed at promoting personal
health, Dr. James Rouse has changed
the game of healthy eating for
diabetics. The Not Just for Diabetics
Cookbook: Naturally Delicious
Recipes for Optimum Wellness
urges all readers, diabetics and
non-diabetics, to reconsider their
nutritional goals to attain an
improved overall well-being.
We believe that eating healthy
should be enjoyable and inspir-
ing. This practice should also
be the experience for the dia-
betic community, Dr. James
notes. These recipes are per-
fect for diabetics, great for over-
all well-being, and will be en-
joyed by both diabetics and
non-diabetics alike.
This groundbreaking new
cookbook is synonymous
with delicious, creative cui-
sine. Inside are more than
200 tasty, nutritious, and inno-

fasts, pasta dishes, breads,
dinner ideas, and even desserts, all of which support
mind, body, beauty, and optimum wellness. These easy-to-
follow recipes are a delicious way to achieve a healthier
lifestyle and make the journey toward wellness a fearless
and exciting endeavor.
Each recipe is accompanied by detailed nutritional infor-
mation to ensure that readers know exactly what they are
putting into their bodies. Even though these recipes are in-
tended to help individuals achieve maximum wellness, that
doesnt mean they sacrifice flavor. Delicious temptations
such as Skinny Spinach Artichoke Dip, containing only 60
calories, 6g carbohydrates, and 1.5g sugar
per serving, allow for simultane-
ous indulgence and healthy eating.
The Greek-Style Ranch Dressing, a
universal favorite, has a mere 45
calories, 2g carbohydrates, and 2g
sugar per serving. Not to mention,
the Slow-Cooked Pork Loin possess-
es a meager 257 calories, 14g carbo-
hydrates, and 3.5g sugar, serving as
a healthy and appetizing substitute
for traditional barbecue pulled pork.
Readers will no longer have to sacri-
fice their favorite foods in their pur-
suit of healthful eating.
Furthermore, the Not Just for Diabetics
Cookbook contains detailed informa-
tion about diabetes as well as helpful
guidelines for achieving a healthy, well-
balanced lifestyle. One of the most

E
astern University announces the College Success Program
(CSP) for Students Living with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The program is offered through the Cushing Center for Coun-
seling and Academic Support on the campus at 1300 Eagle
Road in St. Davids, PA. The CSP provides targeted social, life-
skills, cultural, and academic supports to College of Arts and
Sciences students living with a documented diagnosis of Aspergers
Disorder, High-functioning Autistic Disorder, and Pervasive
Developmental Disorder, Not Otherwise Specified.
Many young adults living with Autism Spectrum Disorder
(ASD) have average to superior intelligence when compared
to their peer group. However, in Pennsylvania only 2.1% of in-
dividuals living on the autism spectrum earn a college degree.
Why is this so? It is rarely because of the demands of rigorous
academic study. Instead, it has to do with the overwhelming
challenges of navigating the social culture of a college cam-
pus, coupled with the responsibility of independently manag-
ing their day-to-day activities.
The CSP is available to help by providing mentoring, indi-
vidual counseling, skills groups, support groups, and structured
study sessions. Students will
meet frequently with CSP staff,
discussing strategies and then
practicing those strategies with
the guidance of trained men-
tors. Undergraduate peer men-
tors will accompany students
to campus activities, helping
them to understand and navi-
gate various social situations.
Residence hall support will be
offered by live-in graduate
student mentors, who help stu-
dents integrate into campus
life and make certain that stu-
dents are successfully manag-
ing aspects of daily living. Stu-
dents will also be supported
through the CSPs role as a
liaison to the larger university
community, which provides
ASD-specific information,
training, and consultation to
faculty, staff, and administra-
tion.
The CSP will welcome its
first group of students living
on the autism spectrum at the
start of the 2012 fall semester.
For information about the
program, including eligibility,
services, fee, and application,

Success Program Coordinator, at

ting-edge research efforts into preventions, treatments and
cures for sight-robbing retinal degenerative diseases includ-
ing macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, Usher syn-
drome, and related conditions.
100th Anniversary Celebration
The Neighborhood League, celebrating 100 years in Wayne,
presented its 100th Anniversary Celebration, June 9, 2012,
at The Wayne Art Center, 413 Maplewood Avenue, Wayne.
In 1912, nine women from Wayne organized The Neighbo-
rhood League to promote moral, social, and physical bet-
terment in the community. A visiting nurse was secured
and would provide health care by horse and buggy to the
less fortunate. Initial funds were provided by the founding
members and in their first year, they received additional
funds from subscribers. A committee was also formed to
cooperate with local charities while establishing friendly
cooperation with the needy themselves.
In 1925, a group of volunteers undertook a new venture to
handle the large volume of donated clothing, and, in order
to further the income of the League, and enable them to pro-
vide more for the needs of the community, a small rented
room on North Wayne Avenue served as the first shop, and
a helpful resource for people with limited funds.
In 1931, the Neighborhood League Service opened a Womens
Exchange which provided women an opportunity to supple-
ment their family income by providing home made products
to the consignment shop on 118 Audubon Avenue.
In 1932, growth continued, and the shop moved to 185-191
East Lancaster and 8 Louella Court. In 1946, the Childrens
Shop, followed by The Alley Door in 1954, accepted dona-
tions as a new revenue source. The Neighborhood League
continues to grow and evolve while keeping to the founding
philosophy and objective of this 1912 grass roots organiza-
tion.
Contributions from the Neighborhood League Shops help
to support the Orthodontic Clinic at 119 West Wayne Avenue.
Net proceeds benefit the community.
