Great attendance for rockin rodeo weekend

ockin the Fields of Minnedosa (RFM) 2012 once again proved to be successful with close to perfect weather and a large crowd to enjoy the main stage for the second year since its return. The classic/modern rock festival, which kicked off last Friday and wrapped up in the early hours Monday, left festival organizers very pleased with how everything went. It went great, exclaimed RFM promoter Tom Crook. Our numbers are higher than last year the music was great and we had a very good audience which helped things run very well. Fridays rain stayed away for the performances that evening as last years Rock Off winner Six Foot Stupid took to the Minnedosa Credit Union Main Stage to start this years RFM. The Northern Pikes and Kenny Shields and Streetheart performed on the main stage before Brandons own Take With Audio, wrapped up the nights entertainment on the Heritage Co-op stage.

Three days of rodeo action

anitobas Heartland Rodeo rolled into town for another August long weekend performance at the local rodeo grounds. An estimated 1,500 people attended the three-day event which included the Heartland Rodeo on Saturday and Sunday and the Manitoba High School Rodeo on Monday. For the most part the weather co-operated although things did get off to a bit of a soggy start Saturday morning. Th rain left the outdoor rodeo arena a soupy mess e for competitors taking part in the Manitoba Barrel Racing Associations 4D jackpot Saturday morning. Fortunately,

the sun came out and dried the ground considerably in time for the Heartland Rodeo performance which kicked off shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday. Following the grand entry of fl ags, and the singing of O Canada by competitor, Samantha Peters, the rodeo was underway with its fi rst of 13 events, bareback. First cowboy in this event was Leighton Dyck who was last seasons High Point Cowboy in the Heartland Association. Onanoles Justine Cornelson was last years high point cowgirl. The second competitor in the bareback event was hometown cowboy Ben Marcino who is currently in third place for bareback in Heartland standings.
