Before

Before

After

Assumptions
Links and transmission between and/or each nodes are ready and available Service migrations are not long delayed by customer clearance Any services creation during the migration processes are informed

Migration Steps
Network Assessment Network Design and Planning Proof of Concept Migration Planning Migration Execution Monitoring Final Reporting

Network Assessment
Objectives:
Verification of services Preparation for BoM calculation Preparation for migration scenario

Steps:
Data collection from the network Data classification Report creation

Network Assessment

Deliverables:
The latest network topology List of services Service profiles Service topology Service utilization Nodes inventory

Network Design
Objectives:
Deliver best practice network design which provides scalable, robust and resilience network and services design Deliver network and services design that meets with the business objectives Deliver configuration template for existing and new node or services Deliver best migration scenario with minimum planned downtime Create list of BoM
Analyzing network assessment report Create design document Create migration document

Steps:

Network Design

Deliverables:
Physical and logical topology IGP design MPLS transport design Service and solution design QoS design Security design Configuration templates Migration scenario document BoM

Proof of Concept

Objectives:

Verify design document in a simulated environment Verify migration scenario Give feedback on design document

Steps:

Create LAB with simulated network environment Conduct testing on design document and migration scenario Create report based on LAB results

Proof of Concept

Deliverables:
Proof of Concept report

Migration Planning
Objectives:
Deliver migration time schedules Create a comprehensive migration team Make sure all migration prerequisites are well informed and prepared with customers team Make sure the migration execution are well planned and executed properly

Steps:

Divide the migration execution into phases (based on cluster or nodes or services) Discuss with customer regarding migration scenario and risks Create MoP and change release documents Circulate MOP and change release documents into customers team

Migration Planning

Deliverables:
Migration time schedule Risk analysis Migration Method of Procedure (MOP) document Change release document

Migration Execution

Objectives:
Implement network and service configuration as design document based on MoP Migrate service with minimum downtime Make sure all services are running normally after migration steps are completed

Migration Execution
Steps:
Migrate all services and consolidated into single node Configure core routers to reflect new IGP configuration Configure new/migrated node as aggregation node in a cluster (pilot cluster) Migrate any service in the aggregation node into edge/access node Configure edge/access node as agreed topology and design in network design phase Configure service design as agreed design in network design phase Monitor and evaluate service after migration completed in one cluster Optimize network configuration as proposed in network design Repeat point 3 to 6 for other clusters Evaluate and create report for all migration execution

Migration Execution

Deliverables:
Implementation of hierarchical network as agreed Low Level Design (LLD) document
