SELECTION PROCESS

INTRODUCTION: The selection process of a company to recruit a prospective employees and encourages them to apply for vacancies at various levels. Thus provides a pool of applicants for selection.

DEFINITION: Selection is the process of choosing the candidates from within the organisation or from the outside, the most suitable person for the current position or for the future position. -o. donnell PURPOSE OF SELECTION PROCESS: The purpose of selection process is to pick up the most suitable candidate who would meet the requirements of the job and the organisation best, to find out which job applicant will be successful, if hired. The company can be recruit the candidates by Age Qualification Skills Experience etc.

The most suitable person is then picked up after eliminating the unsuitable applicants through successive stages of selection process.

PHASES OF SELECTION PROCESS: There is no commonly accepted selection process available, organisation may have to adopt different selection processes for different jobs, depending upon their nature and requirements. There are three phases in selection process

MEASUREMENT: Verification of accuracy and consistency of selection techniques. That means testing the candidates by the selection technics like aptitude test, group discussion, personal interview etc.
