2 PTP VARIANTS
This release of software supports all PTP 500 and PTP 300 variants
The current PTP 300, PTP 500 Lite and PTP 500 Full product models are retiring following System Release 500-05-01. A new 25 Mbps PTP 500 base product model is being introduced with performance identical to the existing PTP 300. Capacity upgrade keys offer performance levels identical to the existing PTP 500 Lite and PTP 500 Full products. New PTP 500 products are compatible with existing PTP 300/500 products. See Section 6 for details on part number changes.
3.2
This release introduces the look and feel of the Cambium Networks GUI including the following: Web-based interface Default IP configuration Telnet logon message SNMP MIB files SNMP interface
3.3
A 60 day trial period of operation with capacity of 105 Mbps is available to the customer. The trial is started through settings in the web-based interface. Once started, the trial cannot be stopped or repeated. The trial is available on both new hardware and on existing hardware upgraded to 500-05-01. The capacity of the link reverts back to the capability of the existing license key at the end of the trial.
3.4
TDD Sync
The TDD synchronization feature is supported for all throughput license configurations.
3.5
Line of Sight
Existing licenses with Line of Sight enabled are converted to a standard 52 Mbps capacity license. The 10km distance limitation and LOS requirements have been removed.
3.6
License Keys
3.7
Link Compatibility
Links can be established between PTP 300 and PTP 500 hardware with both running 05-01 software or higher. PTP300 hardware can be replaced with PTP500 hardware if required. Links between products with different licensed capacity are allowed. Links with dissimilar licensed capacity will operate at the lower of the two capacity licenses.
3.8
Identity-based user accounts support up to ten users with configurable user name and password, each with one of three predefined security roles: Read Only, System Administrator, Security Officer. Identity-based user accounts offer further options for account management, including a new login attempt lockout action control. Identity-based user accounts also offer flexible controls for enforcing password complexity. The software allows a security officer to force other users of the web-based interface to change passwords at the next login. This is useful where the security officer has set a temporary password for a particular user, and wishes to ensure that this user will create a new secret password.
3.9
Remote authentication is available for web-based user accounts, based on the challenge handshake protocol (CHAP) or Microsoft CHAP v2 (MS-CHAPv2) over the remote authentication dial-in user service (RADIUS) protocol. RADIUS is only available when identity-based user accounts are enabled. When RADIUS operation is enabled, an attempt is made to authenticate the submitted username and password of web users based on locally-stored credentials and, in the event that the user cannot be authenticated locally, sends the user name and associated challenge response to a RADIUS server. The user role can be selected by the standard service type attribute or by a vendor-specific authentication role attribute in the RADIUS access-accept response. If authentication role is
present, it determines role, if service type is present it determines role, otherwise the role is read only.
If the password for the role-based user account of the web interface has been set and then reset to blank using a release earlier than 500-04-00, then the unit will not boot following an upgrade to release 500-04-00. Software resets this password as part of the upgrade to System Release 500-05-01
4.2
RFC2821 requires that the "Mail From" and "Rcpt To" fields in an SMTP message should be enclosed in angle brackets. These were omitted in mail messages generated by earlier PTP 500 releases. Email servers that check the protocol strictly might reject a message from a PTP 500. PTP 500-05-01 includes the angle brackets in the SMTP message.
4.3
In previous releases the spectrum bars change to red for 30 minutes following radar detection, and then change to gray. In R10-02, the bars change from red back to the standard blue color.
Products with new license keys can downgrade to software earlier than 500-05-01 subject to the following limitations: Capacity upgrades (52 Mbit/s or 105 Mbit/s) in PTP 300 will be interpreted as a Line of Sight license. The customer will lose the full benefit of the 52 Mbit/s license and will lose the additional capacity benefit from the 105 Mbit/s upgrade. PTP 500 products with the base 25 Mbps license cannot be downgraded to software earlier than 500-05-01.
5.2
Passwords will be reset on upgrade from earlier releases to 500-05-01. Users must take care to restore the passwords, or create new passwords, following the upgrade. Users can also enable the new identity-based user accounts, create accounts as necessary, and set a suitable password for each account.
5.3
A limitation of Recovery Mode exists when TDD Sync is enabled and where the Cluster Master is configured to provide cluster timing from its internal reference rather than from a GPS source. When the Cluster Master is placed into Recovery Mode, the timing it supplies to the Cluster Slaves is invalid. However, the Cluster Slaves will continually try and lock to the invalid signal causing the entire cluster to operate incorrectly. As a consequence, it is recommended to unplug the link between the Cluster Master PTPSYNC and the next PTP-SYNC before putting the Cluster Master into Recovery Mode. Doing so will allow the Cluster Slave to continue operating at least for the TDD Sync holdover period (10 min).
