CLEVELAND September, 25, 2012 Want to learn about the dynamic discussion that Detroit is having on ways to leverage immigration and grow the Southeast Michigan economy? On Wednesday, September 26, 2012, Cleveland hosts Global Detroit for a roundtable discussion:

Creating Immigrant-Friendly Cities and States


Wednesday, 9/26 1:00 to 2:30 pm Ariel International Center 1163 East 40th Street Cleveland, Ohio 44114 The discussion is free and open to the public. All are encouraged to attend. Global Detroit will strategies used to raise $4 million in investments and build a collaboration between the business community, grassroots organizers, immigrant and minority communities, foundations, and political leadership

The event is co-hosted by Asim Datta, Worldwide Intercultural Network; Pradip Kamat, TiE Ohio; Radhika Reddy, Ariel International Center; Kenneth Kovach, International Community Council; And Richard Herman, Herman Legal Group. ****** Global Detroit is an effort to revitalize Southeast Michigans economy by pursuing strategies that strengthen Detroits connections to the world, and that make the region more attractive and welcoming to immigrants, internationals, and foreign trade and investment. Global Detroit has helped connect over $4 million of philanthropic investments in over a half dozen ambitious initiatives since completing an initial Global Detroit study in 2010. These include launching innovative programs in international student retention, microenterprise training and lending, the Welcoming Michigan campaign, the Global Detroit Welcome Mat network of immigration and social services, and attracting foreign investment in companies that produce Michigan jobs. Global Detroit is one of several efforts across the Great Lakes region that capitalizes on the Midwests (an American) experience of immigrationtalent, industriousness, innovation, trade, and diversityas an economic growth engine.
