Junior Track and Field Newsletter 2

October 2012 Hi Everyone,

Well the season has now begun and we had a great first week on Tuesday Club night and Thursday Coaching. Unfortunately the weather caused a cancellation of the first Interclub to much disappointment. Cancellations for Tuesday will be decided at about 3pm and an email will be sent to all on the database with me at ptochjuniorathletics@gmail.com It will also be posted on Facebook . So if you are not getting emails from me, or know of someone who is not getting them then email me to be added. We do not have a Txt system at this time but it is something we are looking in to- if anyone knows about these things get in touch.

For a Registration form click here and either bring to club or post to: Craig Brown 426 Mairehau Rd Parklands Christchurch 8083 Or click here to do it online Remember all new athletes need to bring birth certificate for sighting or a copy please.

We had a great turn out for our first coaching evening with 49 athletes in all. The focus was on learning skills that were new or rusty such as jumping from the board in long jump for the 12 and up age groups. High jump for the over 10s, using blocks, and trying hurdles for the 12 and over. A lot of fun was had and new skills tried out. Remember the first 2 sessions are free but thereafter all athletes must be club registered and coaching registered. There will be a 10% reduction in cost for multiple family members. Tuesday BBQ Help needed

We need someone new to take over running the BBQ on a Tuesday night. The kids and most adults enjoy a sausage at the end of the evening but we no longer have anyone run it. We will roster helpers but need someone to take the lead. If interested please contact me on ptoch.juniorathletics@gmail.com

Lead contact about Colgates this year will be Marisha Dorrance marisha@canlaw.org.nz who will be working with Robyn Cody and Jenny Bruce

Tuesday Club Nights

We had a very successful first Tuesday despite inclement weather and the school holidays. All parents/Caregivers please sign up for 4 help sessions
Programme B this week, no distance races yet- they start at 5.15pm from next week.

Can all helpers try and be down by 5pm to help set up and remember to help put your own event away at the end of the session- Thanks

Keyes Road is one way northbound for most of the season. So if you are coming from NW, best to stay on ANZAC Drive, left into Pages Rd, Hawke St. When you get there do remember we MAY NOT park in the Archery Clubs Parking!

A reminder to all, that there are certain rules with regards to the Archery Area that we MUST abide by, for the sake of our safety, good manners and respect for our neighbours.

The Rules are:1. We may not park in the Archery Clubs Parking, it is theirs done and paid for and our cars will be towed away! 2. When parking in amongst the trees where we can park, and which area will be roped off, PLEASE to not walk to the track through the trees, please walk on the road to the club house. The reason for this is that if someone misses the target at the Archery Range, the arrow can travel quite a distance and you could be injured or worse killed. 3. Do not hurdle or climb over the fence separating the track from the archery area. 4. Please be aware of where the archers are when warming up.
