A. INTRODUCTION Back for the third year, CDL-Singapore Compact Young Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Leaders Award is a youth case competition which aims to promote thought leadership amongst our future leaders to foster greater awareness of embracing CSR principles into a companys daily operations, to achieve business excellence and sustainability. is competition is a cross-sector partnership between City Developments Limited (CDL) and Singapore Compact for CSR. It is aimed at: Educating and promoting CSR amongst our future leaders to appreciate the corporate, social and environmental challenges and fundamental importance of weaving CSR principles into the fabric of any organisation. Providing youth a platform to execute CSR principles within a real-life business scenario. Encouraging and engaging organisations to practise CSR and possibly adopt potential CSR strategies proposed. B. COMPETITION STRUCTURE 1. Registration & Eligibility 1.1 Each participating team is required to register by 7 January 2013 (Monday) to Ms. Bhavana Murjani. 1.2 To register, the team must submit the completed Registration Form and copies of the NRIC/Student Pass of all participants (front and back). 1.3 Each team must comprise three to six participants between the ages of 17 and 30 years of age (as at 31 December 2013) from the same institution. 1.4 The competition is open to students from Junior Colleges, Institute of Technical Education, Polytechnics, Universities and International Schools in Singapore. 2. Phase 1: Compulsory Competition Brieng and CSR Workshop 3.1 At least one member from each team must attend the Competition Brieng on 11 January 2013 (Friday) from 5pm8pm at: NTUC Centre, Room 903, Level 9, One Marina Boulevard, Singapore 018989 3.2 During the Brieng, participants will be introduced to brief case studies of 10 companies representing a diverse range of industries and identify the core CSR aspect(s) most critical to the company. ere will also be a question and answer session for participants to pose additional questions to the companies. 3.3 Following the Brieng, each team will be assigned to one company by ballot. 4. Phase 2: Pre-selection 4.1 Each participating team is required to submit the Pre-selection Proposal by 4 March 2013 to Ms. Bhavana Murjani. Late submissions will not be accepted. 4.2 The Proposal must not exceed 10 pages excluding the cover page; typewritten in Arial 11 pt font, double line spacing with 1 inch margins from all sides on A4 size, in the following format: i. One cover page containing the team name and participants names and school only this information must not be included elsewhere in the Concept Paper. ii. Executive Summary not exceeding 1 page. iii. e proposal MUST include: Explanation of goals and performance targets of overall CSR strategy with specic focus on the identied core CSR aspect(s) Proposed implementation of CSR strategy Proposed assessment and measurement of impact Estimated feasibility and applicability of the strategy 4.3 In the Pre-selection phase, all submissions will be reviewed and 10 shortlisted teams (one nalist team per SME) for nal Phase 3. Non-qualifying teams will be notied by email. 5. Phase 3: Final Judging 5.1 Finalists will be expected to fulll a practical attachment (of not more than 3 work days) with the company onsite to further review and rene the proposal under the mentorship of an independent CSR consultant. The tentative period for the attachment will be between 25 March19 April 2013, subject to the schedules of the selected company and CSR consultant. Failure to attend the practical attachment might result in a disqualication. 5.2 Each nalist team is required to submit (by hand) the Final Proposal and Presentation by 29 April 2013, 3pm to the Singapore Compact for CSR. 5.3 The nal submission must contain ve original hard copies and one CD containing soft-copy of the Final Proposal (in the same format as B.4.2) and Microsoft Powerpoint Presentation slides named Team Name_SME Name. Annexes are allowed.

5.4 Late submissions will not be accepted. 5.5 All nalist teams are required make a 15-minute presentation to a panel of judges on 16 May 2013 (tentative). At least two team members must be present or the Team may face a penalty. Failure to attend this might result in a disqualication. Organisers will strictly adhere to the time limit. No introduction of new slides on the judging day will be accepted. 6. Judging Criteria 6.1 All proposals and presentations submitted in the course of this Competition must be recent and original, and must not have been previously entered in any national, regional or international competitions, or subject to any form of copyright protection in any country, whether in part or in whole. Copyright ownership of all proposals will remain with the participants and/or the institution. Judging will be based on the following criteria: Successful alignment of business and overall CSR strategy Innovative thinking and creativity Involvement of stakeholders Feasibility, eectiveness and nancial management (where applicable) Overall quality of proposal TOTAL Details will be elaborated at the brieng cum workshop. 6.2 A pre-judging panel comprising a representative each from City Developments Limited, Singapore Compact for CSR and the respective company assigned to the team will shortlist the 10 Pre-selection Proposals for Final Judging. 6.3 Final Submissions will be judged by a panel of CSR and industry experts. Individual scores will not be disclosed to the nal teams. 6.4 The judges decision is nal. No correspondence will be entered into on this subject before, during and after the Competition 7. Prizes 7.1 e prizes for the CDL-Singapore Compact Young CSR Leaders Award 2013 are as follows: First Prize Second Prize Third Prize $ 5,000 cash $ 3,000 cash $ 2,000 cash 25% 25% 20% 20% 10% 100%

7.2 The remaining seven nalist teams will receive $500 cash per team. 8. Others 8.1 All participants must consent to the public disclosure of his/her name and photographs, as the case may be, for publicity purposes or otherwise participate in the publicity activities of the Organisers in relation to the Competition and to the use of any information provided for any future publicity eort by the Organisers, without any payment or compensation thereof.

8.2 Participants shall bear all costs associated with the participation of the Competition, the claiming and collection of the prizes from the Organisers. 8.3 Notwithstanding anything in these Rules and Regulations, the Organisers reserves the right at any time in its absolute discretion to determine and/or amend, by addition to, subtraction from or variation of, these Rules and Regulations without prior notication, including but not limited to the eligibility terms and criteria, and all participants to this Competition shall be bound by these amendments. 8.4 Submission for the Competition signies the acceptance of the rules and regulations of the CDL-Singapore Compact Young CSR Leaders Award 2013.
