11th Edition, Autumn 2012

Hello everyone! Since the spring edition of our newsletter, much has been happening for the ICPE Mission in Rome and were back to tell you all about it!
The 12th of May was a special highlight as we celebrated Brother Tony's deaconate ordination. Finally, the great day arrived and together with Card. Peter Turkson, Brother Tonys family and closest friends, we were privileged to witness our brother take his first step towards priesthood in St. Peters Basilica. It was a very special moment for all those who know Tony personally, a day of great joy and gratitude to the Lord for this vocation. The celebrations continued in an Indian restaurant, where University professors, relatives and friends expressed their appreciation of Brother Tony for his godly character and excellence in various aspects. Needless to say, the Cappellos were extremely touched and proud to see this young man commit in an official way his entire life to the Lords will and to the service of His Church. June was a busy month for everyone at the International Office, in view of the preparations to host the ICPE Leaders and of the GOGICC Leaders Meetings in Rome on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Pontifical Recognition of the ICPE Mission. These meetings took place between the 9-20 July and the 13-15 July 2012 respectively. It was a pleasure for us to welcome to Rome the leaders coming from all over the world, from Korea to the USA, from Poland to Sicily, from Germany to Ghana. Celebrating the Eucharist together, sharing and discussing together important issues regarding the implication of the New Evangelisation and the organisations progress gave the leaders a new thrust and vision as they returned home to their communities.

It was during these meetings that the process of discernment regarding Mario and Annas relocation to Malta was brought to a conclusion. Having moved from Germany to Rome 14 years ago, the Cappellos came to establish the ICPE Mission at the heart of the Church and set up the International Office. Now that these objectives have been reached, their 24/7 presence in Rome was seen to be no longer necessary. As from April 2013 they will be taking up residence in Malta while continuing to do the work they are currently doing, including the running of the International Office through regular visits to Rome.

11th Edition, Autumn 2012

This summer, theres been a novelty at the Office: finally a man has joined the team! Fabio, a gentleman expert in finance and insurance, volunteered assisting us in accounts. He has been coming to the office since June for a few hours every week including the hot summer days - to give us a hand and his advice. May God bless him for his generous heart! Mario continues his extensive travelling to the USA, Ghana and Treviso, to coordinate fundraising and carry on with the work at the hospital in order to start up medical activities. Were pleased to share theres been several encouraging developments with regards the HopeXchange Medical Centre and concrete plans are taking shape in order to launch the Malaria Unit in January 2013! On another note, our brother Francis has recently returned to Rome to do his licentiate and started studies again at the Urbaniana University. We wish him all the best and for the grace of the Lord to be abundant upon him. Having obtained a summa cum laude for his theology studies, we have no doubt he will do well and excel in the coming two years. Early in November, Mario and Anna are looking forward to travelling to India for another landmark of a day in the story of the ICPE Mission. In the presence of family and friends, the brothers and sisters of the Light of Christ Covenant Community and the ICPE missionary community in Bangalore, Deacon Tony will be ordained priest by the Most Rev. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore, on the 6th November. We wish our brother Tony all Gods blessings and wish we could be there too! At the International Office, as usual, Angeline continues to juggle various tasks ranging from seeing to the various website requirements to all the technical details involved in keeping our office equipment in full functioning order. In September she even flew to ICPE Mission Deutschland to record the video presentations of Mikes talks for the Year of Faith, then edited and uploaded them online for us all of course. She is looking forward to spending time with ICPE Mission Philippines for the Reverse Carolling project in the first part of December. Angeline will then spend Christmas with her sister in their hometown, Melaka in Malaysia. This past Sunday, as the Church recently inaugurated the Year of Faith, we had the privilege to attend the first Mass in English at the Church of Santo Spirito in Sassia where Fr Geno Sylva of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelisation celebrated Mass and delivered an inspiring homily. As we are writing this, the Synod on the New Evangelisation is being held in Rome. May the graces that the Holy Spirit is pouring on us all these days, as the People of God, be received with willing and open hearts to rediscover the beauty of our faith and to share it with joy.
