Labours Candidate for West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner

Police cuts hit West Yorkshire

Labours Mark Burns-Williamson vows to cut crime not the police.

Meet Mark

Mark and Labours Shadow Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper

West Yorkshire Police will lose 2000 staff including over 800 officers as the Tory-led government continues to slash budgets and make cuts to vital front-line services. Labours Mark Burns-Wiliamson says: A 20% cut to Police funding is wrong. It hits front-line policing and will threaten the safety and security of West Yorkshire Communities. With your support I will fight these cuts, fight to keep police on the streets and active in our communities, fight to keep bobbies on the beat Vote Labour on 15 November for a Police and Crime Commissioner to cute crime not the police. Vote Labours Mark Burns-Williamson.

Born and raised in West Yorkshire, Mark graduated from Bradford University. He has worked for over 20 years for organisations across the county including Pontefract Citizens Advice Bureau, The Rugby Football League and Halifax PLC. Dedicated to West Yorkshire and to protecting our communities and fighting crime, Mark has served on Wakefield District Council for 14 years, became a member and then the Chair of the West Yorkshire Police Authority in 2003 and was elected Chair of the Association of Police Authorities in 2011. Mark was awarded an OBE for services to the Community and Policing. A former rugby player, Mark is a lifelong Castleford Tigers supporter.
