SCHOLARSHIPS EnPe NORADs Master Programme within the Energy and Petroleum sector

(ANTHEI Angolan Norwegian Tanzanian Higher Education Initiative)

Background
The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), specifically the Department of Chemical and Mining Engineering and Nowrwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) of Norway have had initial discussions of how to build up an M.Sc education for petroleum engineering and geosciences. During the last three decades NTNU has had a number of students from Tanzania following the M.Sc program at NTNUs Department of Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics. This is justified by the fact that our country is currently one of the most promising countries in Africa for oil and gas prospecting, and it is paramount to build up a skilled base of experts in Petroleum engineering and Geosciences. Applications are therefore invited for a two years M.Sc. Petroleum Engineering/ M.Sc. in Petroleum Geosciences (2013-2015) scholarships. The scholarship includes full coverage (meals and accommodation, travel grant, books and stationeries etc.). NTNU will primarily be responsible for the MSc program. Students from Tanzania will stay in Norway for the first year, with NTNU being responsible for lectures, guidance and accommodations and spend their second year in Tanzania under the responsibility of the Tanzanian project coordinator (Head, Department of Chemical and mining Engineering) with the support of NTNU Professors and Statoil Professionals. Statoil is a Norwegian oil Company already engaged in activities in Tanzania. This arrangement is an extension of a similar one between NTNU and the University of Agostinho Neto (UAN) in Angola. Angola is currently one of the major producers of oil in Africa. The two (NTNU and UAN) have been cooperating since 2007. Thus Tanzania is in a tri-partite venture i.e. between NTNU, UAN and UDSM, the acronym for the cooperation is ANTHEI

M.Sc. Petroleum Engineering and M.Sc. In Petroleum Geosciences

These two international Master programmes are taught in English, and fully integrate Norwegian and foreign students. The programmes focus on the following areas of activity:

Exploration and production of oil and gas Methods for increased oil recovery Development of subsea production solutions for great water depths Seismic surveillance of Reservoirs
