General Information:
www.livinthemusic.org Livin’ the Music is a non-profit organization (501c3 pending) that was founded on the idea that
music can, and will, change the world. The purpose of Livin’ the Music is to use music to bring light, love & hope to
those in need. On Saturday, February 7th, we will be hosting our first event in Lake Charles, LA at OB’s Bar & Grill to
benefit The Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, a foundation dedicated to local survivors and their families
whose struggle takes them places few have ever been. Recently, Livin’ the Music has lost several friends to cancer
(including my father, Ed Reiser). This event means a lot to us. Livin’ the Music wants to do whatever possible to help
The Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer Foundation achieve their goals in the Lake Charles community.
Over the past year, Livin’ the Music has produced events for the Lili Claire Foundation (helping special needs kids) in
Nashville and Los Angeles, for The Los Angeles Inner-city Lacrosse Association (teaching inner-city kids Lacrosse) in
Los Angeles, for The Voice of the Wetlands (coastal conservation in Louisiana) in Baton Rouge, LA, for CAN-DO
(providing disaster relief world-wide, hurricane relief in Louisiana) in Baton Rouge and for Soles4Souls (providing shoes
to those in need) in Nashville. Livin’ the Music strives to help these organizations achieve their individual missions by
encouraging and providing a way for the artists and the local community to get involved through special projects such
as shoe-drives (Soles4Souls), re-building efforts (CAN-DO), children’s programs (The Lili Claire Foundation) and
support groups (St. Patrick Hospital Palliative Care).
On Saturday, February 7th, we will host our first Livin’ the Music concert at OB’s Bar & Grill. A VIP reception will be
held for all partners and sponsors from 6-7PM. Please get there early to enjoy this exclusive opportunity, reserve your
table and mix and mingle with the artists and supporters. This support is critical to the community. Please contact
info@livinthemusic.org for more information on how to be a part of this reception.
At 7PM the doors will open to the public. The event will begin at 7PM and continue through 1AM. A schedule of
performances can be found below or at www.livinthemusic.org. The purpose of this evening’s festivities is to raise
awareness and support for the Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. The Foundation provides support for local
families, patients and survivors. If we all join together, we can form a strong support system for our community. Exactly
11 months ago, I lost my father to cancer. I personally know what it feels like to be faced with one of life’s toughest
challenges. I also know that no one should ever have to go through this alone. We at Livin’ the Music want to form a
support system for the Lake Charles community that will last for years to come.
We have a growing network of gifted songwriters whose music has a positive message - who believe music can, and
will, change the world. It is incredibly inspiring to find people from all walks of life, across all genres of music, with the
same message of optimism. Livin’ the Music is excited and honored to bring this energy and awareness to OB’s in Lake
Charles. Music is the vehicle for the message.
PLEASE HELP US MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE, ONE SONG AT A TIME.
Special Information:
• $10 minimum donation at door - all proceeds benefit Livin’ the Music
• A portion of all proceeds will be donated to The Ethel Precht Breast Cancer Foundation
Not every time the word "cancer" is said does it spell "death". However, Ethel Precht has
lost her only sister, dad, aunts, uncles and grandmother to some type of cancer. Her two
sons and husband have all had prostate cancer, her daughter-in-law ovarian cancer and
her 92 year old mother and she herself are all living proof that there is life after being
diagnosed with the big "C". Twenty-Two years ago, Ethel was diagnosed with breast
cancer. She is living proof that there is life after cancer.
While in Houston receiving treatment, friends invited her to a breast cancer walk. She was so moved and touched by
the care and love at that walk that she decided to do something similar in Lake Charles. Since 2004 they have helped
over 60 survivors with monetary gifts. This has become a yearly event, and in 2007 they had over 1000 participants in
the walk! Their goal is to have families and friends come together to support each survivor and those currently battling
breast cancer. The walk continues to grow thanks to the local support of businesses and families.
While Ethel, believes money is needed for extensive research, her walk is dedicated to local survivors and their
families. When going through cancer of any type, there are so many other things going on in a family and money is
needed for the small necessities of life, as well as research for a cure. The money from the walk only goes toward
residents in Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes. Nobody associated with the walk gets payment of any form. Everyone
volunteers their time for the cause. All of the money raised stays in the community to help offset what insurance does
not pay. It is a gift for a survivor.
If we can make someone feel better about themselves while going through some of the darkest moments in their lives,
we have reached our goal.
General Information:
On the February 6th, Livin’ the Music will be bringing support, energy and awareness to Lake Charles. Being
diagnosed with an illness such as cancer can literally turn an entire family’s life upside-down. During diagnosis,
treatment, recovery and rebuilding, it is extremely important that the patient, family and friends have a strong support
system. Palliative Care is a new program at St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles. Under the leadership of Michelle
Hurley, they provide support services to enhance the quality of life that is there.
On Friday, February 6th from 2-5PM, Livin’ the Music will be partnering with Palliative Care to unite the community
through music. We will be hosting an exclusive concert at Garber Auditorium at St. Patrick Hospital. The purpose of this
event is to let the community know that there is support; we are here; you are not alone and we want to help. If
you are a cancer patient, survivor or family member you are invited to this concert.
Due to limited space, you must RSVP. Please contact Michelle Hurley (Palliative Care) at 337.430.3447 or Becky
