B. Summary of the story The play was adapted in Filipino from the original play Clash of the Cymbals by National Artist Wilfredo Ma. Guerero, owns a daring plot that is threaded invisibly by a solid story and dissolving moments of tears and excitement about two young men whose struggles, youth, joys and triumphs lampoon the current situation of homosexuality and same sex relationship in the family and the community we live in. Berde is about the lives of Edwin and Butch and their seemingly unorthodox love affair. Both come from a rich prominent nut unstable family. Edwin has a strict military captain father who without discreet curses his son, and a mother who spoils him and

dresses him up as a girl when he was still young. Butch, on the other hand, has a drunkard father, who left him when he was young, and a cold and frigid mother who accepts Butch as he is. The play starts with the not-so typical acquaintance of two individuals who are outwardly different in appearance. As the story progresses, we are ushered to the wealthy and grandiose house of Edwin which metaphors their social status. The conflict unfolds when Edwins father comes home and sees the truth about his son.

III. Reaction 1. My opinion of the play as a whole is its not quite good because I am Roman Catholic followings. In my religion I believe it is very wrong to marry the same sex person. However, I want to say is that homosexuals should have the same equal rights and the same amount of freedom as straight people because in this world it does not matter who, what you are, but it does matter how you contribute to this world and how people make it a better place. 2. The part of the play where I am against, is the part where Edwin holding a gun. Even though its part of the climatic story, hence its violence. Im against on that part because Edwin is holding a gun and sometimes he pointing the gun to his mother. 3. The part of the story I am favor is where Edwin and Butch give important and value to each other. Even though they have no freedom, yet they still fight for their right to be in-loved. 4. After watching the play, I realized that lots of people do not see the side of whom they are inside, but they only see what they are. A lot of people judge each other by a different number of things.
