Also, a huge thank you to two of our most valued volunteers, who were inadvertently left out of our original thank-you notice. For many years, Anni Trahan and Dena Bohn have graciously offered their help to our club and community in many ways for many

events. On Sunday, Nov. 11, Anni and Dena greeted everyone who attended our Annual Veterans Day Breakfast and sold tickets and fundraiser items for the Ladies Auxiliary. Their smiling faces and cheerful participation made this event successful once again this year. It is when plans are made for new products, or when changes would be made to existing toys. He asked Kalo to awaken him at noon, 12 hours before the meeting. Santa was very firm about getting things done on schedule. By being awakened at noon, he had time to take a leisurely bath, visit with Mrs. Claus, eat a good breakfast, check his mail and see how the reindeer were doing after pulling the sleigh on Christmas Eve. He would also have time to check on the elves and everything at the North Pole. Kalo was not going to be late, he didnt want to disappoint Santa Claus. He wanted to be the very best First Elf Santa ever had. He had been appointed to the position as Santa left to deliver toys to all good boys and girls around the globe. Today he was continuing his tour of the toy shops in the village. He had started looking in on the toy shops the morning of Dec. 26, after he and the other elves finished celebrating Christmas and had attended church. He enjoyed touring the shops. It gave him a chance to meet all the other elves, many of whom he had never

anta Claus left a message asking Kalo, the new First Elf, to call the annual meeting at its regular time, Midnight, Jan. 2. That is the official starting time of the new toy building season.

BB guns, fishing equipment, and many, many more. Each manager had a list of employees, what supplies they would need, how many elves they needed to add, or could be moved to other departments, who was retiring or might be ready for more responsibility. The list went on and on. Kalo had to be certain every shop in each department had what they needed, but no more. Efficiency was extremely important, as was safety, but most important of all: everyone was to be happy. While Kalo was at the hobby horse shop, he and Orly, the new Shop Manager decided it was time to let the colt that was born two years before, go to work. He wasnt needed at the hobby horse shop, so it was decided to let him go where he was needed most. The colt had never been formally named and Orly thought it would be a good idea to have a contest to pick the right name. Everyone in the village could enter. Kalo took had taken care of the young horse while he was shop manager at the hobby horse shop and he took over care of him once more, while the contest was going on. There was a small barn and corral near the center of the village where the colt could be safe and warm. It was close to Kalos office, near Santas home and was an easy place for everyone to find, so they could look at the colt and think of a name. Kalo remembered the day the cold was born to Dolly, one of the horses used as a model for the hobby horses. He was brown, with a white mark on his head, shaped exactly like a Christmas tree. Everyone was so happy when he was born. Even Santa and Mrs. Claus came to the hobby horse shop to see him. What excitement he caused when he was born, and now there was even more excitement because of the naming contest. Kalo would give the winning name to Santa Claus who would announce the name and decide who the colt would be given to. Names came pouring in from everyone. Even Mrs. Claus entered a name. Kalo was almost overwhelmed, but he worked extra hard in his office. What a tough decision. There were so many good names; Lightning, Flicka, Brownie, Champion, Banjo, Trigger, Mr. Jim, Tony, Leo, Frosty, Cedar, Wonder, Bud, Noel, Pine, and many others. Everyone thought theirs was the best, but none of the names seemed to be just right. On the day of the meeting, Kalo hadnt made up his mind. He was nearly tearing his hair out, he was so worried about finding the perfect name. It was almost noon and he hadnt awakened Santa yet. He was very fond of the colt and often day dreamed about him. He had fed and cared for him for most of the colts life. He fed him only the best hay, brushed the little guy and cleaned his stall. He taught him to carry a rider and to pull a sleigh. When Kalo was tired of doing office work and began to get grouchy he would often go to the barn and talk to the brown horse. Hed tell him all about what was going on in the village. All at once he heard the pounding of hooves on the street in front of his office. The colt was neighing and neighing, trying to get Kalo to open the door. He began kicking the door and trying to neigh louder, but his voice was very little. When Kalo finally got to the door and ran outside to see what was going on, the colt stood by the steps, as if he wanted Kalo to get on. Just then Kalo heard the village clock begin to chime. It was time to awaken Santa Claus. Worried about picking the right name for the colt, he had forgotten to awaken Santa Claus. He jumped on the colts back and they ran all the way to Santas house. They got there just as the clock chimed 12. To be continued next week
