Holy Cross College Saints Baseball Signs Two for 2013

NOTRE DAME, IN (December 19, 2012) The Holy Cross Saints baseball program is pleased to announce the signing of two players Adam Janowiak and Brian Reed for fall 2013. Adam Janowiak, a senior at Marian High School, is a pitcher looking to have a bounce back year on the mound after not being able to pitch last season due to an arm injury. Over the last six years, Janowiak has also been a vital member of the nationally recognized Michiana Clippers Travel Baseball team coached by lead Saints assistant coach Todd Marazita. Over these six seasons, Janowiak has helped the Clippers enjoy a number of successes, including posting a 294-57-2 record. "Adam is one of those kids we could always count on to take the mound and compete," said Saints assistant Marazita. As a result, Janowiak has gone up against some of the nation's top travel teams, such as the East Cobb Astros, Kentucky Baseball Club, North Carolina Cains, MSA Black, and the Ohio Force. Janowiak's mound performance was instrumental in the team's 2010 national ranking of #14 by Perfect Game, while pitching in some of the nation's most competitive venues, such as Cooperstown, New York, Cocoa Beach, Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, Tempe, Arizona, and Omaha, Nebraska.

"Being a part of the Clippers program has allowed me to develop the work ethic and experience that is necessary to compete at the collegiate level," said Janowiak. "I'm very excited to be continuing my playing career at Holy Cross and am looking forward to playing for coach Brian Blondell and the Saints." "Adam will bring the type of bull dog mentality we'd like to have in our rotation," said head coach Blondell. "Even though he missed last year with an arm injury, his dedication to the game and willingness to get back to the mound is very impressive to us. We expect a bounce back senior season for the Marian Knights." Bryan Reed comes to Holy Cross from Charlotte, Michigan. Reed is a 6'6 versatile player. Playing in 33 games during his junior season, Reed hit .468 with six home runs, 17 doubles, and 69 RBI's. As a pitcher, Reed pitched 61 innings, recording seven wins, five complete games, one shutout, and three saves, while posting an excellent 2.38 earned run average (ERA). Bryan has also played three years with the Rockford Raptors travel team, and his Lansing Hit Club team is ranked 5th in the state of Michigan. The highlight of Reeds junior season occurred when he pitched a "no hitter" against Fowlerville, Michigan. Reed's successful career began during his sophomore season (2011) when he was acknowledged in the community after receiving All-Academic District, 1st Team All-Conference, and team MVP. During his junior year (2012), the accolades continued for Reed as he received 1st Team AllConference, District, and Regional honors. His team was then invited to the Diamond Classic Tournament. "We're extremely thrilled to be adding a player with Bryan's skill-set to the Saints baseball program," said head coach Brian Blondell. "His versatility will be of great value to us as he has the

ability to play in the field and pitch. We expect Bryan to contribute right away when he arrives on campus." The Saints will kick-off the spring season on February 23rd with a home double-header against Grace College at Coveleski Stadium. ### Holy Cross College is a Catholic, four-year, co-educational, liberal arts institution founded in 1966 by the Brothers of Holy Cross.
