Terry Stecz, MS, Broad Fellow Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Stecz brings decades of organizational leadership experience to LeadAmerica. Formerly CEO of Edison Schools, he oversaw all efforts for the leading national private sector innovator in learning solutions for administrators, teachers and parents. Mr. Stecz has been honored as a Broad Fellow with the Broad Center for the Management of School Systems, an organization focused on raising student achievement.

Philip McChesney, Lt. Col., U.S. Army (Ret.) Vice President of Operations

Lt. Col. McChesney is responsible for the operational functions of LeadAmerica programming including the safety and wellbeing of students. A retired U.S. Army officer with more than 25 years of service, he has held numerous key command and staff positions and garnered many awards including the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medals, the Charles F. Crew Leadership Award and the Superior Civilian Service Medal.

Jan A. Sikorsky, PhD Director of Academics, Sciences

Dr. Sikorsky holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences and an MS in Forensic Science from Marshall University. He is responsible for oversight of and academic content in LeadAmericas science courses. Dr. Sikorsky currently holds an adjunct faculty appointment at Palm Beach State College; teaching courses in forensic science and the analysis of biological evidence. He is currently serving a three year term on the College Science Teaching committee of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA).

Andrew H. Potter, MA, MA (NEJS) Director of Academics, Humanities

Mr. Potter holds an MA in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University and an MA in Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations from California State University. He is responsible for oversight of and academic content in LeadAmericas humanities courses. Mr. Potter has taught courses including government, economics and philosophy for nearly a decade at the university and college prep levels. He is currently serving a three year term on the Government Relations Committee of the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS).

John Danielson Former Chief of Staff, United States Department of Education (2001-2003), Chairman, Executive Advisory Board

For more than two decades, Mr. Danielson has played a significant role in developing quality education for all children. He was appointed Chief of Staff at the Department of Education by President George W. Bush (2001-2003). He has counseled many companies in the education field, including those involved in charter schools, publishing and higher education. Mr. Danielson has also advised world-renowned corporations and philanthropic organizations across the globe on investments in education.

Bonnie Reiss, JD Former California Secretary of Education, Executive Advisory Board


Ms. Reiss provides more than 25 years of operational expertise in a wide range of areas including business and entertainment law, corporate finance and education. Ms. Reiss is a current member of the University of California Board of Regents (ending in 2020). Ms. Reiss was founder and CEO of After School All Stars, a national organization providing comprehensive after school programs, and received the William White Lifetime Achievement Award from the U.S. Dept of Education. Some of her many past accomplishments in education include serving as the Secretary of Education under then California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of whom she also served in a prior capacity as Senior Advisor on major policy initiatives including education, the environment and childrens issues. She has also served on the California State Board of Education from 2003 to 2005.

James Giordano, PhD Director, Center for Neurotechnology Studies Vice President, Academic Programs Potomac Institute for Policy Studies

Dr. James Giordano is Director of the Center for Neurotechnology Studies, and Vice President for Academic Programs at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, Arlington, VA. His areas of research emphasis include: neuroscience, neurophilosophy, and neuroethics addressing the molecular and behavioral neuroscience of pain, the neurophilosophy of pain and mind, the neuroethics of pain research and treatment, and the ethical issues arising in and from advancements in neuroscience and neurotechnology.

L. Jon Wertheim, JD Academic Advisor

Mr. Wertheim is the Senior Writer at Sports Illustrated where he also serves as the Chief of Legal Affairs and as the Sports Business Reporter. He is one of the most accomplished sports journalists in America and one of the most authoritative voices on tennis, the NBA, sports business, and legal issues facing sports. He also serves as contributing reporter with NBC Sports, CNN, and the Tennis Channel and is a Contributing Editor for Tennis Magazine.

Gary B. Crocker, MA Academic Advisor

Mr. Crocker is a retired foreign service officer from the U.S. State Department, where he served for 25 years in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research. Mr. Crocker was involved in arms control, including interagency activities to halt the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons.
