WRITING LEVEL A Topic 1: The Christmas Day Christmas is the most important festival of the Christians. It is celebrated on the 25th December every year with great pomp and show in the memory of Jesus Christs birthday. I am really interested in this Christmas. I with my girlfriend walked along the street in Can Tho city. Great preparations for the occasion make the city more beautiful. All Christians houses and churches are cleaned and white washed. The walls are decorated with paper flowers, pictures, and stars. The shopkeepers who sell Christmas cards and Christmas presents decorate their shops with beautiful pictures and toys. They do so to attract people to their shop. Suddenly, my girlfriend takes my hand and pulls me into a shop because she sees a funny little snowman there. Topic 2: The Tet holiday Tet is one of the most important traditional holidays of Vietnamese family. My family often prepares for Tet about one week before with my cleaned and painted house, flowers, a couple of water melon, some traditional dishes, etc. People usually say the First Day is Fathers Tet, the Second Day is Mothers Tet and the Third Day is Teachers Tet. In the morning, after finishing something necessary such as worship and breakfast at home, my parents and I visit and give a New Years greeting to my grandparents and some relatives on my fathers side on the First Day of new lunar year and mothers one on the Second Day. My nephews and nieces delight in seeing me because they are going to receive from me lucky money. I usually spend the whole Third Day to visit my teachers with my high-school friends. Topic 3: Your living place I was born and grew up in a small river-side village called Phu An in Tien Giang Province. The main occupation of the people there is cultivation and breeding. People often grow rice and vegetables on their field. In recent years, fields tend to become gardens with many kinds of fruit tree such as longan, orange, mango About breeding, figs are bred in a pigsty not too far from their house; chickens are set free in their garden and sleep in a chicken-coop; and ducks are kept on the field. Besides, people in my village live in peace and harmony. They usually help together in harvest, in daily life and in some special meetings. I love my peaceful and beautiful village where I enjoy the wonderful life. Topic 4: Best place to study The Learning Resource Center in Can Tho University, in my opinion, has been the best place to study for now. It is the biggest library in Can Tho City even in Mekong Delta, with ideal study conditions combined with a green and pleasant space. The Learning Resource Center consists of the ground floor and three floors with different functions. Its ground floor is equipped with many computers connected to the internet. The first floor is a silent place where students can study by themselves with all kinds of books and computers or discuss in a separate room called the discussion room. The second is equipped with computers, magazines and multimedia documents for learning foreign languages. The highest floor is an interesting place for dancing and other entertainment activities. Therefore, The Learning Resource Center is an ideal place to study.

Topic 5: Your favorite TV program My favorite television (TV) program is The National Geographic. The National Geographic is a well-known documentary program, focusing mainly on the ever-changing world, on the Earth and on nature, peoples and creatures. Just the press of a switch and a button, the whole world is brought before me, for me to savor its beauty and wonders. Also, this is a very educational program and a window to the world. By watching it, I can travel, explore, and discover the Four Corners of the world. In short, The National Geographic helps me to grow and mature. And, this program has converted me into a more responsible citizen of the world and a care-taker of the Earth. Topic 6: What are advantages and disadvantages of watching TV? Television is very popular nowadays. Television is the most common source of getting information from the world. There are a lot of advantages of watching TV. Firstly, we know what is going on all over the world. We know the weather forecast. We can see important live events, especially sports events, for example: Sea Games, World Cup and Olympic Games etc. Secondly, we can increase our knowledge from lots of scientific programs, nature movies and educational programs on TV. However, there are also a lot of disadvantages of watching TV. Firstly, watching TV wastes our time if we watch programs not useful for our life. Secondly, on TV there are also violence movies and movies for adults. They are not good for children. Finally, TV is also harmful for our eyesight. Therefore, I think that watching TV is so interesting; however, our health is the most important.

Topic 7: What makes you most happy / most proud? OR Who do you want to become in the future? The dream of becoming a chemistry teacher is my pride (my happiness). When I was in high-school, the chemical structures have made me interested for now. I always feel happy and pleased to work in the lab. Sometimes funny experiments are done. My younger brother, a high-school student, often asks me some problems of chemistry; my explanation to him really makes him feel like chemistry more. I gradually realize that to make chemistry become closer to people is my dream. And it will come true when Im a chemistry teacher. I will teach my students how chemistry is wonderful and important for our life.
