AN INTERVIEW WITH SANDRA BULLOCK
What kind of films do you think Sandra Bullock prefers?
Read the following article about his famous Hollywood star to find out.
Sandra Bullock was born in July 1964. Her mother, Helga, was a German opera singer and her
father, John, was a voice teacher.
Sandra, Sandy to her friends, used to perform in the childrens chorus of whatever production
her mother was in. Today, Sandra says she remembers that she played around backstage and she
knew from a very early age that she always wants to be in the spotlight. She worked in bars before
she got her first job in theatre. In 1987, a talent seeker found her and got her a role in her first film
Hangmen. Sandras career took off with Speed
Women: Youve done action films, drama and comedy, all sorts of movies. Whats your favorite
kind of film to do?
Sandra: I love humour. Thats something I think you cant ever get enough of and, if its done
well, its great. When its bad its horrible. But its such a good think when you feel a joke and you
hear people laughing - you feel like you hit the jackpot.
Women: When did you realize that you are famous?
Sandra: When it start to affect my family. We were at home and people started ringing the
doorbell. There were always fans and journalists outside.
Women: Your dad and sister are involved in your production company, Fortis Films. What is like
to have a family-run business?
Sandra: My dad is involved in finance. Hes involved in stuff that no one wants to be involved
with, stuff like investments. My sister does a amazing job running Fortis. I can trust her to run the
company.
Women: Do you think you were a better businesswomen because you work with them?
Sandra: yes, I knew nothing about business. I made lots of mistakes and threw away so much
money. I was the worst.
Women: Do you think Hollywood will give you the flexibility to try new things?
Sandra: No one has to give me anything. I give myself. Hollywood has been great to me
because Ive chosen what I want to do and Ive chosen what I didnt. Hollywood cannot tell you
what to do. One thing Im proud of is the fact that I Ive managed to give priority to my family and
friends. Without them nothing is worthwhile
