Journalism
The Department of Arts, Culture and Media at the University of Toronto Scarborough invites applications for a full-time teaching-stream appointment in Journalism. The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer and will commence July 1, 2013. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and broad professional experience in journalism. He/she also should demonstrate an understanding of the changing nature of journalism, both as a practice and as an industry. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is especially welcome: new and emerging media practices, multimedia journalism, convergence journalism, digital storytelling, journalism ethics, and activist journalism. Candidates must have an advanced degree in journalism, or another relevant field, demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level, and a commitment to the scholarship of teaching and learning as it pertains to journalism. The successful candidate will take a leading role in the development of the Joint Program in Journalism with Centennial College. S/he also will be expected to engage in service activities in the department. Appointments at the rank of Lecturer may be renewed annually to a maximum of five years. In the fifth year of service, Lecturers shall be reviewed and a recommendation made with respect to promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer. Senior lecturers have continuing appointments.
