My Coaching Model PEACE

The coaching model that I have designed as per my values and philosophy of life is PEACE. Peace is the deepest desire of every human life. We want to constantly derive peace and satisfaction out of our actions in life. Every individual has the innate desire to embark on a journey of accomplishment of series of dreams in life; and yet be in peaceful composure. In life things are so dynamic that one cant afford to design life and permanently live there; constant evolution is the only way to live to fullest potential. This model is cyclical in its nature and draws from the practice of NLP and also assessment science. As per the scriptures, researches and the holy books, POWER in life comes from internal peace and external contributionpower energises, enlightens and keeps us passionately involved in the journey of life We are all designed for super accomplishments and have a right to the extraordinary success, happiness and abundance of life. Thus, coach has a job in hand to awaken the inner spirit and all the inner resources that lies dormant. PEACE is a coaching path to unleash the potential that resides in every human existence. In Abraham Maslows theory of Hierarchy of needs, self-actualization is the deepest need of every human existence; and this model is an evolution in the same direction. While Self

transcendence is our penultimate motto in life, the other levels of hierarchy also need to be satisfied. This model in its steps ensures that we constantly measure our P vs P( Performance vs potential) and periodically re-design our life to match our needs and purposes.

Thus its indicative from Maslows model that deepest need of a human life is to provide and serve a larger cause in life. Historically we admire, worship and aspire to be givers. Giving comes naturally as we move towards PEACE model as it facilitates and establishes connection with our deepest resources and how we can contribute and accomplish our need to give in this universe, without risking our own survival. Its imperative that the basic levels of life, need to be at peace all the time for the individual to progress to the self-transcendence phase Thus though the highest needs of Maslows hierarchy remains, they are in many ways mutually exclusive. As a person who is under threat biologically, psychologically or physiologically, would find it very challenging to engage in self actualization leave aside self- transcendence. Sometimes we live in the ambiguity of which phase have we graduated to and how long can we sustain the same. To constantly calibrate and set our purpose in perspective, can save us from the chaos or confusion that we could get entangled in. PEACE as a coaching model can support in envisaging a life of success and plenty with crystalized roadmap. It can be leveraged upon in any situation of coaching whether its executive, business or a life style transformation scenario. Its a logical sequence of litmus test to ensure we are living life on our own terms; yet leaving a dent behind towards the betterment of mankind. It helps us live a larger than life lifestyle yet stay connected to our authentic self. It ensures that we continue to challenge ourselves in blooming every competency lost somewhere deep within us. It keeps the discovery spirit awake in us. Peace practiced during coaching and off coaching can yield great benefits to the client.

In this model the alphabets in the word PEACE represents following: P Purpose for path E exploration for exciting choices A Action for agenda C Commitment for course E Evaluation for effectiveness As per the ICF code of ethics and conduct the coach plays a very critical role of a facilitator or a catalyst whose presence and extraordinary ability to connect the client to the inner realms of subconscious and super conscious brings about an aha moment and thereby ownership of the progress Thus its imperative the coaching model also helps the client to periodically assess the satisfaction of the journey. The perspective towards success, peace, accomplishment in our lives is very dynamic, thus coach plays a quintessential role in facilitating the transformational journey. The model has 5 essential phases or steps that can be used in a cyclical order to ensure constant leverage of ones best resources internal and external.

Phase 1 P Purpose for path


In this phase the client decides the area of issue or opportunity and the purpose around same. This predominately helps the clients to scan through all the clutter and identify the deepest needs or opportunities that they would like actualize. This is a very critical phase as the rest of the process would be dependent on the fundamental i.e. the purpose for the path. The purpose behind every facet of life and how it adds to the larger picture of our journey needs to be identified for best results. The journey to any destination becomes a joy and is seamlessly traversed when the purpose is clear.

Phase 2 E-Exploring for exciting choices


Our deepest passions are towards our exciting pursuits. Thus exploring all possible choices to accomplish the purpose is significant. Exploration during a coaching session is almost meditative in nature. This discussion uses the powerful tools of listening and questioning to support the client connect with the conscious and super conscious of the self and leverage on all internal and external resources possible. Exploration keeping the purpose in mind reveals various assets and road blocks that can be addressed to move into the next stage. Strengthening the empowering beliefs, accentuating the positives, discovering the KSA (Knowledge, Skills and attributes )at this stage can really give an impetus to the pursuit.

Phase 3 A-Actions for Agenda


Very often we are held up in our journey of creating our ideal life; as we dont action our agenda. This phase supports the client in creating an action plan maybe long or short term to realise their dreams. Agenda is the road map for the purpose to be realised, and action is to set timelines for execution. More specific the action plan and the timelines better is the final implementation and the results reaped in conclusion. The Blueprint is created at this stage which is aligned to the overall lofty dream in the background.

Phase 4 C-Commitments for Course


Once the agenda or the action plan is ready, the rigor and commitment towards it, is very critical. One needs to have will power to ensure that the roadmap is taken forward as per the milestones and timelines set. To ensure commitment and ownership towards the course or action map coach can anchor the feeling of accomplishment through visualization or analogy. The coach also plays a significant role in supporting the commitment towards the course taken up by the client. Even the best of blueprints needs the commitment for seeing the dream take wings. Commitment on the course of timelines, calendar, action items can also be done as review of the roadmap.

Phase 5 E-Evaluations for Effectiveness


Life has lanes, by-lines and dynamic elements where the terrain and the environment can unfold various mysteries while journeying towards ones purpose. One needs to be open to a course correction if need be. Thus one needs to constantly evaluate the progress of the agenda, with the left brain (logical/rational) and right brain (creative, emotional, sensitivity) to be more aware of the reasons of success or opportunities. During a coaching session this stage can be used as either opening or closure. For opening a coaching discussion one needs a quick evaluation of story so far, to ensure the discussion is driven towards the logical success or revisiting of the plan for better results. Thus we see that PEACE as a coaching model can facilitate a coaching discussion and also help calibration or introspection of ones journey at periodic intervals. Its a model that can empower an individual to gain awareness of purpose behind every action and constantly realign as per ones own values or philosophy of life. True happiness is through authenticity, and authenticity is living as per our own values in liferather than getting bogged down by world of chaos. Practice of this model on regular basis can enable a person to realise self-transcendence and unleash the inner talents. The PEACE model is also cyclical to ensure that there is no road block in the journey of realization of ones true potential, and thereby constantly refuelling ones passion.
