Discuss the significance of the titles of the chapters in your discussion, identify the literary devices used, the purpose of the author, how they develop the story, characters and theme. 3. Food, especially mangoes, is the centre of this story. The recipes and the familys activities centre on the mango. The prologue itself is a metaphor using the mango: Happiness is a mango. What is the significance of using the mango? 4. The story has many digressions which are mostly Priyas memories of the days before she left for the Unites States. Explain Amulya Malladis style of writing. 5. Draw Priyas family tree and show how the relationship among all the characters contribute to the conflicts and dilemma Priya has to face in her search for happiness. 6. The Mango Season presents several characters of various characteristics; some very traditional, some very westernised, and others partially traditional. Compare the similarities and differences. 7. There are numerous conflicts between various characters. Using a suitable graphic organiser, show the conflicts. 8. Who do you think is the stronger character, Priya or Sowmya? Why? 9.
