Justice
February 20, 2013 Announcements/Opening Prayer Discussion Opening story / Was the decision just? What do you think justice means for each of the parties? Some words to consider: equality, equity, fairness, impartial, upright, objective, unprejudiced Isaiah 61 1. What does justice look like in Is. 61: 1-3 and what is common among the groups in these verses? What would meeting these needs today infer about God at work? Because Israel sinned and turned away from God, God allowed them to be conquered. How might verses 4-9 be a source of joy to them? What does the contrast shown in verse 8 and the actions in verses 1-3 tell you about Gods concerns? Whats happening inside the prophet in verses 10-11? Why? What injustice have you seen? What keeps you from pursuing justice? What actions can you take to bring justice to the needy?

Lev 19:15
Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly. Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow. Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.
