March 3, 2013 Reminder to parents with nursery pagers, please keep pager on your person to feel the vibration if our nursery staff or your child needs you. Large Print Bibles are available on the table in the Narthex. Transceivers are available in the sanctuary for the hearing impaired during the worship service. Shirl King will be available on Sunday mornings for details. Please, everyone wear a name tag, take time to fill out the Friendship Register, and join us for fellowship after worship in the Fellowship Hall. Want a copy of the sermon? Request forms are located on the sign up board and on the office desk to get a CD. DISBURSING TREASURER NEEDED: Our current Disbursing Treasurer, Becky Bowman, is retiring effective April 15. A replacement for her is needed. Experience with computers and accounting software a definite plus. For questions, please contact Becky at 328-2382. DAILY LENTEN DEVOTIONS are available in the Narthex and the Office hallway. THE UPPER ROOM: March/April copies of The Upper Room Daily Devotional Guides are now available in the Narthex. Feel free to pick up a copy. Today, the children will be collecting your change for 2 Cents-A-Meal. This yearly mission falls under the Presbyterian Hunger Program, Cents-Ability, which is Food for Change. Collection takes place the first Sunday of each month in the Narthex following the worship service.
FELLOWSHIP TIME: During the month of March, we invite everyone to share in providing refreshments during Fellowship by bringing a small plate of goodies to share with all. YOUTH CHOIR (K thru 12th grade) will meet today at 11:15 in the God Seekers classroom. We meet every Thursday and go over at least one book of the Bible on our journey to reading the entire Bible. ELDER RETREAT: Saturday, March 9, 2013, 9:00 a.m. here at SFPC. G-FORCE YOUTH NIGHT: Balloon Extravaganza! G-Force will be having their next Youth Night on Saturday, March 9 from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Come for a fun night with friends, Bible study, a balloon extravaganza, and pizza! DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME BEGINS NEXT SUNDAY, MARCH 10, be sure to set your clocks forward, Spring Forward one hour Saturday night. ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL LENTEN STUDY: An Acceptable Fast, each Sunday through March 24, 2013, 8:45 9:30 a.m. Themes include: Voicing Gratitude, Choosing Well, and Trusting God in times of conflict. Childcare is available, email Betsy McKinney (Betsymckinney8@gmail.com) first for childcare. Weekly commitment is not required. CHURCH-WIDE CLEANUP DAY: Saturday, March 16, 2013, 8:00 to 12:00. Come and help clean up the church for Easter. Coffee and donuts provided. PERCY JENKINS SENIOR CITIZENS DINNER: Saturday, March 16, 2013, 11:00 to 2:30. Free tickets are available in the office. This dinner is a tribute to the senior citizens of Sneads Ferry. DUTTWEILER BABY SHOWER: Thursday, March 21, 7:30 9:00 p.m. A baby shower for Raleigh Elizabeth Duttweiler will be held in the Fellowship Hall. She is expecting a boy. All women of the church are invited to attend. Childcare can be provided. Please notify Mary Lyall or Peggy Roberts if you need childcare or have any questions. OUR COOKBOOK CUISINE DINNER: March 23, 2013, 5:00 p.m. This will be a potluck dinner, with all recipes coming from our church cookbook. If you do not have a cookbook, please contact Marcia Hamilton. MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE: Thursday, March 28th, 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. EASTER CARNIVAL: Come celebrate the wonderful news that Christ lives! Our Easter Carnival will be Saturday, March 30th here at SFPC from 11:00 to 1:00. There will be a cake walk, games for the little ones, lunch by our Men of the Church, and great fellowship for all. Bring the kids, bring the grandbabies, bring yourselves!!! EASTER CARNIVAL VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are needed for the Easter Carnival scheduled for Saturday, March 30th. Some areas of help: bake a cake for the cake walk, help run a booth, donate filled plastic eggs or just plastic eggs. A signup sheet is on the hall bulletin board. USHERS ARE NEEDED FOR WORSHIP SERVICES. Please sign up on the bulletin board. OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES ADOPT A HIGHWAY: As a community project, Outreach has adopted Highway 210 from McDonalds to Stone Bay Rifle Range (2 miles both sides). SUPPLIES FOR THE TROOPS: If you would like to give to our troops, a donation basket is available in the Kitchen hallway for donated items. The items in need are: Phone cards, small sewing kits, tooth brushes and paste, small bottles of shampoo, soap, sun screen, and any kind of snacks. SNEADS FERRY FOOD PANTRY: A collection bin has been placed in the Kitchen hallway for your food donations to the Sneads Ferry Food Pantry. The donations help people in the community. The S. F. F. P. is located at 2205 Hwy. 172, operating 5 days a week, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Meat, canned goods, baby items, including diapers, will be available. Volunteers are needed to help fold and display clothing and pass out food. DIXON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM: If you would like to get involved in this vital community outreach program, please sign up on the bulletin board. OFFERINGS FOR THE COMMUNITY AL-ANON MEETINGS: Every Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference room behind the Sanctuary - Use the outside entrance to that room. H2O: Hope 2 Offer/Help 2 Overcome: A local, faith based not for profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation program offered to men and women. H2O meets weekly on Thursdays at Salem Baptist Church, 6:00 p.m. with supper, program, and small groups. Confidentiality is required!! The Presbyterian Counseling Center is a nonprofit organization providing high quality counseling and psychotherapy by licensed professionals for the entire community. FREE AARP TAX PREPARATION: The First United Methodist Church of Sneads Ferry will be hosting a FREE income tax preparation and e-filing service on Thursday, March 7. Tax returns will be prepared by AARP volunteers who are trained and certified to IRS specifications. Hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. We will fill up the morning hours before afternoon hours. Please call the F.U.M.Church office at 327-4011 to schedule your appointment.
