SECRETARYS REPORT 2012

The number of players has continued to remain steady throughout the 2012 season. With much sadness, the Association lost two of it's Life Members, namely Tom Arnolli and Hura Herman. Tom held the positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Committee member over his long period on the Committee and Hura was our long time Honorary Solicitor. We also lost players Bob Woodhouse and Peter Duck. Condolences to the families and friends of our Life members and players. Competitions continue to be successful with 16 teams currently in the 5 person competition which is running under the format of promotion and relegation where we have two groups, the Reg Marsh Shield and the Al Gore Shield. This format still encourages players and teams to strive to improve their game and position. The Over 50s and the billiards competitions continue to hold steady numbers, but more teams in these competitions would be most welcome. The 3 person competition started with a new format during 2011 and has continued to be very successful during 2012 and enjoyed by all players involved. We are still hoping for more teams to contest this competition in the future. Being our 50th year, the Association held a 50th Anniversary tournament which was run very successfully and enjoyed by all players who participated. Congratulations to Mark Hugo, who defeated Nathan Meyers in the Final. On behalf of the Association, I would like to thank the three clubs involved, namely Cardiff Panthers, Belmont 16' Sailing Club and Wangi Workers Club for allowing us the use of their facilities. The handicap snooker singles and handicap billiards District events were both run successfully. Our website continues to run smoothly. I would like to thank Committee member Grant Schubert, who has given me great support and any help required over the last few months. I am learning more as I go along and I hope the members enjoy the weekly updates and all the little extras that Grant has included to make the website more user friendly. I would like to thank the Committee and referees for their help during the past 12 months. Without their efforts, our Association would not be as well organised. Congratulations to all winners of our winter and summer competitions that get to hold the perpetual shields for each competition. I am sure our Association will continue to prosper in 2013 and we can look forward to another great year of snooker and billiards

Thank you
