STUDENT TRAVEL AWARD

PURPOSE To provide travel assistance to students interested in visiting colleges, universities or vocational programs in pursuit of post-secondary education. ELIGIBILITY Application is open to juniors and seniors of the High School for Environmental Studies, 444 W 56th St in New York City. APPLICATION PROCESS Please include: Completed application form Typed essay (800 to 1000 words) addressing: o What institution do you plan to visit? o Why does this institution interest you? o How will you use the award? (Expense budget recommended) o Please describe any unique circumstances or financial need. Letter of recommendation from a faculty mentor. SELECTION PROCESS One scholarship of up to five hundred dollars ($500.00) will be awarded per school year. Please submit applications to Jonathan Henkel, College Counselor, jhenkel@schools.nyc.gov (put W55BA application in the subject field). Application deadline is April 1. All applicants will be notified in May. Awardee agrees to submit a short follow up essay (500-1000 words) describing how the award was used and what was learned from the visit.
