Progress Tracker:
The chart I’ve included is the “Progress Tracker”. It’s very important to keep track of
what your child is learning. I created this sheet to help you remember. The grapheme is
listed under the left, under “Blend”. Next, there’s some excellent of words that use that
grapheme. Each time you review this grapheme (using my DVDs, this booklet, or with
your own materials) make a little mark under “Review/DVD Time”. After about 8
attempts, try to elicit the sound from your child by pointing to the grapheme and seeing
if they can come up with some of the example words on their own without any
prompting from you. So, if you pointed at B, your child could say “b says buh, buh, bear,
butter”. In this case, you would make a mark under the “Recall” column. If your child is
able to recall the grapheme a few times, they know it, and you should spend more time
testing other graphemes (although, you should look back at the grapheme from time to
time, since review is a big part of retention).
Thanks for checking it out, and come see me at Mini DaVinci for more reading materials.
