REPLACEMENT OF INEFFICIENT PUMPING MACHINERY OF GWSSB

After caring out performance test of pumps as per (PHEEO , O&M manual clause 16.2.3 Copy Attached as Appendix: D)
The GWSSB has decided to replace the old inefficient machinery if the following criteria are fulfilled:1. LIFE OF MACHINERY: - Must be more then 10year old model. 2. LOSS OF OVERALL EFFICIENCY: - May have at least 10% less overall efficiency in comparison to the ideal overall efficiency of new machinery of same Q & H parameters. 3. PAYBACK PERIOD:- Total expenditure to be incurred on replacement of the old machinery must be recoverable by saving in energy within 36 months. The bidder shall have to perform the following duties / jobs for the above mentioned work. (1) PRELIMINARY SURVEY REPORT & DISCUSSION WITH CLIENT. The bidder has to visit the site (Head works) in his vehicle with not more than two technical assistants with him. He has to inform GWSSB representative (Client) in advance so as to be present at site for supply of requisite site detailed technical information & discuss in the matter for preparation of preliminary feasibility report if the criteria for replacement as mentioned above are fulfilled. The bidder will prepare finding/result of the survey reports & discussion with clients representative to GWSSB officer (Concerned Division). The bidder will submit Preliminary survey reports as per details given in Appendix A to this letter. The client will scrutiny the findings of survey reports & inform the bidder with remarks/modification / Suggestion if any for further action. BIDDER WILL NOT DO ANY FURTHER ACTION WITHOUT CLEAR WORK ORDER FOR FURTHER WORK FROM CLIENT. The bidder will be paid for this job as under. a. Transportation charges @ Rs. 7/ Km. from bidders office to site, round about & back. b. 1.5 times the pay & allowances of the team of bidder (Not more than 3 persons including the team leader ) c. Rs. 5000/- visit per day of the concerned head works + 12.36% Service tax (2) SUBMISSION OF PRELIMINARY REPORTS BY BIDDER On approval and payment of fee for survey reports , bidder will submit preliminary report regarding methodology of replacement along with feasibility report estimated expenditure for replacement as per S.O.R. and quantum (KwHr)of energy saving /month and payback period thereof in the format as mentioned at appendix B to this letter. The bidder will be paid consolidate fee of Rs.10, 000/- + Service Tex @ 12.36% C.E(Mech)

Detailed suggestions will be given as separate write up as Appendix C ENERGY CONSERVATION CALCULATION A. Overall efficiency as o AT PRESENT Q,H,N, Kw rating (Water to wise eff) Water KW = Q x H , where Q is in M3/Hr. 367.2 o = Water KW = . % Motor input(KW) B. Overall efficiency of Suggested P. for the similar Q, H, N parameters , Q = ..M3/Hr, H=. Mtr. N=. 1500 RPM , KW =..

(C) Typical Calculation Data: Design pump efficiency = 0.75 Deteriorated efficiency = 0.65 WHP of the pump = 490HP BHP of the motor = 670 HP (500Kw) Therefore increase in H.P. required due to reduction in pump efficiency. = ( 1 - 1 ) X 490 = 100.5 HP 0.65 0.75

= Excess energy cost per annum 100.5 X 0.746 X (22HrX300day X Rs5/- unit) Kw = 74.973 Kw X 6600Hr X 5 = 24,74,109 Say Rs 25lacs Cost of replacement of inefficient Pump Sets 500Kw X 11000/Kw = 54, 98,020 (SOR Page No - 159) = Say 55 lacs Pay back period = Expenditure on replacement = 55 X 12 Annual saving in energy bill 25 = 26.4 months
