City & Hackney Coalition to Save the N.H.S.

Incorporating Hackney Keep Our NHS Public Minutes of a meeting held 20/13/13 at London Fields Medical Centre.
1. Attendance: Rosemary, Coral, Nick, Wendy, Bronwen, John C, John B, Shirley, Ellen, Christine, Marion. Apologies: Nik, Mary, Paul, Julian, Annie, Gareth

2.Minutes of previous meeting held 20/02/13 agreed.


3.Out of Hours GP Service. 3.1The open letter had collected over 257 signatures so far and been sent to a number of people. Other places to send letter: a) MumsNet 3.2 Legal: City & Hackney Urgent Healthcare Social Enterprise (CHUHSE) was taking out a Judicial Review on the decision to put the service out to tender. Rosemary is to check exactly what they are doing and report back to us. 3.2.1.We agreed at our last meeting that if we were to take any legal action ourselves we would need to have a subgroup of at least 2 people to run with the idea. At present Rosemary has agreed. We would also need to find a local person on benefits affected by the changes prepared to front up the challenge. 3.3It was agreed to arrange a meeting with the CCG to ask them what they plan to do once the power of commissioning devolves upon them on 1 April (as a result of the Heath & Social Care Act). Bronwen to organise. 3.3.1.Street Stalls arranged: Sat April 6th : Nick, Bronwen, Marion, Rosemary. Sat April 20th : Bronwen, Rosemary. Venue for both: Brooke Road Post office, Stoke Newington High St. at 11am. 4.Public Health. Coral raised the issue that certain areas previously covered by GPs e.g. Childhood immunisation, Sexual Health, Cardiovascular screening & Coils & implants now fall within the remit of the local council and may be put out to tender for private companies. It was agreed that Bronwen would contact J. McShane, who chairs the Health & Wellbeing board, to see about a possible meeting on the issue. It was agreed that it would be worth attending the next Scrutiny meeting details are available online from Hackney Council website. 5.London wide activities. 5.1 Save Lewisham Hospital Campaign: Tuesday 26th March from 12 till 2pm lobby at the House of Commons. 5.2 London wide march to defend the NHS May 18th. After some discussion it was agreed that Hackney people would meet locally before proceeding to the march. Time / Venue to be agreed later. Nick to order leaflets. 6.Affiliation to Coalition of Resistance. After an introduction it was agreed that, given that HCSNHS consists of several different groups, it would be appropriate for people to take the idea back and affiliation agreed through their individual groups. 7.AOB Peoples Assembly Against Austerity Saturday June 22nd 9:30am at Central Halls Westminster. Ellen is working on getting delegations from Hackney.

8.Date of next meeting: Wednesday April 24th 6.30 pm at London Fields Medical Centre.
