they Hurt Going back in history you probably can recall that America was founded by illegal immigrants. Without them who know if we would even be. So why are we so hard on the illegal immigrants now? They made a change once whos to say they cant and wont do it again but things can only happen by opportunity and availability. We have the availability we just need to give them the opportunity. Instead of throwing every law and legalization process at them that we can think of we need to build them up and give them what they came for. The United States should give illegal immigrants the opportunity, benefits, and equal rights as Americans because without them we the United States could not stand as the strongest country also, because without them who know if we would even be a country. The thing is we know that we need them we have all the statistics and facts right in front of our faces we know without them we wouldnt be able to stand as the worlds super power. Illegal immigrants benefit the United States economically by purchasing goods and services, contributing labor, filling wanted, and by paying taxes. Ramanujan Nadadur a graduate student at the Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University argues in his article Illegal Immigration: A Positive Economic Contribution to the United States that Classical economics holds that immigration benefits the host country because it subsidizes the labor supply (1041). Basically without them the labor industry will go up because illegal immigrants fill and supply the United States with jobs that Americans dont want. Illegal immigrants take the jobs that are left over but

Tunstall 2 at the same time are the ones that we really need for daily living such as: farmworkers, construction workers, and small businesses (nail shops, restaurants, etc.) Not only do they run small businesses but they also run businesses that create a lot of our taxes such as gas stations. Do you know how it feels to not be able to provide for your own children? Do you know how it feels to seek for jobs everywhere and not have even one job available for you? Maybe, you don't but these illegal immigrants do; and if you do know how it feels you would know why they come here illegally to find a better life for their selves and their family. The only difference between Americans and illegal immigrants is the title we place on them. All they want is to work, provide, and survive just like we do. And with the US being the richest country in the world we give them that opportunity and chance to do so but we are so selfish and self centered we dont realize that by us keeping the title illegal on them we are the ones keeping them from giving back to our country. You hear all the time why should we let illegal-immigrants who don't pay taxes and just want to come and free ride on our country money here. What we fail to realize the only reason why their not paying taxes and giving back to our country because we want let them we have placed a title on them that's preventing them to do what they want to do which is be free and work for the US. There are over 12-million illegalimmigrants in the United States. The number of illegal immigrants in the United States has grown to as many as 12 million, and they now account for about one in every 20 workers, a new estimate says (Ohlemacher 1). So we all know that there is no possible way to deport 12 million immigrants. If we can't beat them why not help them they came here for better life why not give it to them. Besides immigrants has been a major impact on the United States. Immigrants have been coming to the US way before the US was established. So who are we to say who land belongs to whom and who is able to enter or leave. We don't know how much a positive effect immigrants has put into this country and how much money has came from the

Tunstall 3 immigrants. We are too selfish to see how much of a difference immigrants can make and already made only if we let them. Undocumented immigrants do pay taxes, and they do contribute to the economic, social and cultural developments of their communities," said (Ikambana 1). As we see immigrants do make a positive effect and could make even a better one if we stop limiting them and take the label illegal off them so they can make a difference. We as the United Stated suppose to be the world leading power, but we must don't understand the definition of leadership. Leadership is the ability to influence or lead a group of people; there is a thing as good and bad leadership. Right now the US is showing bad leadership by not accepting people and need and not providing freedom which is what our country is known for but have a bad way of showing it. The US has a lot of jobs that US citizens wont take and illegal-immigrants are more than happy to take. So why not let them. Statistics show that illegal-immigrants have made a difference in the work force. Only if we allow them they can work legally pay taxes just like a regular US citizen. It estimated that illegal immigrants fill a quarter of all agricultural jobs, 17 percent of office and house cleaning positions, 14 percent of construction jobs and 12 percent in food preparation (Ohlemacher 2). Which are jobs that Americans dont want? They don't realize how beneficial these jobs are to people who really need them. We take for granted what we have and illegal-immigrants take advantage of it. We the United States really are living off immigrants because if we deport every working illegal-immigrant we could go into a depression. Business leaders and advocates for immigrants' rights argue that America's economy would collapse if all the illegal workers were deported (Ohlemacher 4). Illegal-immigrants don't care what job it is all they want is to provide a living and chance for they family. Most jobs illegal-immigrants have Americans wouldnt take even if they didnt have it. Elizabeth Dwoskin at Bloomberg ....... She found that Americans don't want many of those jobs that illegal immigrants have. But the expected boost for unemployed Americans isn't materializing: they aren't rushing to take the jobs

Tunstall 4 those illegal immigrants are leaving behind (Indiviglio 1). What excuse do we really have to keep them from giving them the chance that they want? Something that we fail to see is whats going on behind the scenes behind the curtain of an illegal-immigrant. The only thing we look at and want to look at is they are illegal. But we don't look at that they are human, they need to survive, they need to provide, and they have feelings just like the rest of us. What would you do if you had to work, fight, and protest for your freedom? What would you do if every body treated you different and said you don't belong here? What would you do if you were taken and deported away from your children? A lot of times we complain that US citizens are lazy and don't want to work or make a living for their selves and just want to free ride off the government. Now they say the same thing the only difference is they are illegal-immigrants and they actually want to work and pay taxes and give back to the country except we are holding them back. So can the US answer me one question: What do they really want done? You might say people live without parents everyday people lose parents everyday. But out everybody who go through losing a parent its by force not choice. We see the statistics of how children grow up and go on the wrong path cause they don't have the parents they need in they life. We are basically making the statistics by taking the parents away who wants to teach their children to go the right way. Isnt that the reason they came here in the first place to make a living and a future for they child. So we are basically taking that away. We as the United States Should feel good to change and be able to give somebody a chance and a shot at life but instead its like we want the opposite. We don't want to see people excel and make a difference and change in the world. We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general

Tunstall 5 Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America(Hamilton, Johnson, King, Madison, and Morris 1). What you read is the constitution in the first line it states We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union (Hamilton, Johnson, King, Madison, and Morris 1). This means that we are all united, in the United States. And will fight or help anyone together. So by us rejecting immigrants we are going against our constitution. We the people means all the people in the United States no matter where we are or where we come from if they are in the United States they are a part of us.We the people its not stating a specific race or ethnicity it is saying all so why discriminate against immigrants. We are only hurting ourselves saying we are not a country of our word and we are not united because we don't accept certain races. When other countries look at us and see how we treat illegal immigrants they say and that's what people call the world super power. If we were the world super power we would help people who come from another part of the world and seek for help. If we was the world super power when they come we wouldn't look down on them put labels on them and say you don't belong here and you are not apart of us. If we were a world super power we would accept them, no matter what's there ethnicity or where they come from, we would take them in as our own without having to take them through every loop we find to be free. If we are a world super power and a country of freedom we need to start acting like it or give our title to someone who deserve it. From what I see right now we are far from what we make people conceive us to be. It was the day after Thanksgiving November 25, 2011 and 18 year old Joaquin Luna shot himself. He left a letter saying he was sacrificing his self for the rest of the illegal-immigrants who is trying to be apart of the Dream Act. The purpose of the Development, Relief and Education of Alien Minors Act, also called the DREAM Act, is to help those individuals who meet certain requirements, have an opportunity to enlist in the military or go to college and have a path to

Tunstall 6 citizenship which they otherwise would not have without this legislation. Supporters of the DREAM Act believe it is vital not only to the people who would benefit from it, but also the United States as a whole. It would give an opportunity to undocumented immigrant students who have been living in the U.S. since they were young, a chance to contribute back to the country that has given so much to them and a chance to utilize their hard earned education and talents(Batalova, Jeanne, and McHugh 1). We create ideas but we make it hard for illegalimmigrants to tap in it. Whats the point of having something if you not going to use it? Young Luna was tired of getting treated wrong he took things in his own hands. He did it the wrong way but this is what the United States brought him to: High school senior Joaquin Luna, 18, put on a suit, kissed family members, went into the bathroom and shot himself Friday, according to his brother, Diyer Mendoza. In the letters he left, his brother said, Luna expressed despair at the chances for the federal Dream Act, which would legalize illegal-immigrant students and young adults (Dina 1). How much more deaths and suicides, and parents getting taken from their children do it takes to make a change that these illegal immigrants have come for. Illegal-immigrants futures are in our hands its our decision whether we be fair and give them what they deserve or keep trying to deport all twelve-millions of them. We are the richest country so they say, yes we are free so they say, and yes we are united so they say. Since we are so rich why are we worried about going broke and into recession? Since we are a country of freedom why want we let the immigrants come and be free without fighting for their freedom. Since we are united and one and we the people says the constitution then why want we let immigrants come and be apart. If we are all these things we are showing it in a bad way. But we want understand unless we are the ones in the situation of getting denied rights,

Tunstall 7 freedom, and a chance at life to make a living for they self and family. Only if we knew how it felt to get denied the right to feed they children cause they can't find work, only if we knew how it felt to have to go home and tell your children you can't eat tonight cause you are illegal and not good enough for the US. Only if we knew, right? Are you still asking the question should Immigration be legal or illegal in the U.S.? Well let me put it like this should we be able to breathe and live free did we work for it or go through a process. I didn't think so, so immigration should most definitely be legal in the US.
