Vice President, Services & Support Operations - Linthicum, Maryland (2010 to 2011)
Responsible for building the new global network service & support operations organization by combining two separately run businesses from Nortel and Ciena into one new hybrid organization utilizing the best processes, procedures, and tools from each company. Led the merger and acquisitions global services & support operations integration team resulting from the purchase of Nortel Metro Ethernet division that doubled the size of the company. Managed the IT development teams who generated the new IT applications required to migrate Nortel customer support data from SAP to Oracle platforms. Included developing the strategy for the global operations organization. Presented weekly services operations integration status to C-level management.

Vice President, Asia Customer Services & Support Operations - Tokyo, Japan (2005 to 2010)
Ran and developed the Asia services & support operations business including administrative duties, strategic planning and driving execution of the organization. Senior point of contact for customer escalations, with P&L responsibility and functional ownership of services and operations organization including technical support, program management, professional services, services sales, partner management, deployment, IT, quality, logistics, and training for the Asia region. Had indirect responsibility for other functions including but not limited to finance, sales, human resources and engineering. Conducted intensive negotiations to successfully close contracts for sales, service support, partners, and resellers. Presented quarterly business overviews to C-level decision makers. Expanded Asia customer operations and technical support service centers in Australia, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Thailand and India, required to support multiple customer networks, value exceeding $100M with additional new annual sales averaging $25M. Included direct recruitment of local employees and selection and contracting with external support partners within each national market. Converted the business from a free service to separate revenue generating business unit. Set up a network of logistics, installation, and technical support partners in Asia utilizing a more cost effective approach of in-country labor.

Senior Program Manager, Thailand Air Force - Air Defense System (1999 to 2001)
Guided closing phase including final testing and customer acceptance of $180M Air Defense System for the Royal Thai Air Force, 6 year contract at Northrop Grumman. Managed a 60 person cross functional team and three subcontractors in deploying 3 FPS-130X long range radar systems, implementing 1000km fiber optic cable network and satellite systems, construction of 18 buildings, and modifications to 16 other facilities. Included P&L responsibility for all existing and new business in Asia for the Air Defense Sensors Department. Obtained customer final acceptance of all in-country integration testing, software development, logistics, and final sign off of the air defense system. Closed out all contract milestones ahead of schedule allowing to company to receive final payments and close out all performance bonds and other financial risks.

Regional Program Manager, International Programs (1996 to 1999)


Head of the Air Defense Sensors Department ground radar business for Africa and South American programs. Included P&L responsibility for all existing and new business for radar programs in the range of $25M. Successfully negotiated the closeout of the Egyptian TPS-63 co-production contract with Egyptian partner. Negotiation team member that sold a TPS-70 radar to the Government of Rwanda. Closed out all contract obligations for TPS-70 radar programs in Peru and Ecuador.

Field Operations Manager, Federal Aviation Administration Programs (1989 to 1996)


Managed the Field Operations Organization responsible for the global deployment of all Federal Aviation Administration civilian radar programs consisting of a combination of 250+ Mode-S Beacon systems, ASR-9 Airport Radars, and ARSR-4 Long Range Radar systems. Responsible for the financial performance of each field program that totaled to almost $40M. Directed and led all in-house and field activities of 100+ internal personnel plus the installation and test teams from the Joint venture partner. Daily communications with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) personnel pertaining to hardware/software issues, corrective actions, and schedule status.
