Teaching Experience
Carrington Middle School Durham, NC Aug. 2010-present 7th grade Language Arts Teacher Developed and taught interdisciplinary units and lessons to students at multiple levels, including AIG and EC inclusion. Taught small group academic elective classes targeted at low-performing students. Classes included diagnostic assessments, focused reading skills instruction, fluency and vocabulary practice, and working with students to track progress and goals. Porter Ridge Middle School Indian Trail, NC Aug. 2007-May 2010 th 6 Grade Language Arts/Social Studies Teacher Collaborated with fellow 6th grade Language Arts teachers to create a unique, cohesive reading program, including an after-school tutoring component. Pilot classroom for iPod cart; presented information on iPod use in the classroom to middle school principals and district staff in March 2010.

Carrington Middle School Durham, NC Aug. 2010 -present Summer Bridge Teacher, July 2012 Taught information literacy skills to small groups of rising 6th graders as part of a three-week summer camp aimed at preparing students academically and socially for middle school. Grade Level Department Chair/PLC Leader, Aug. 2010-2012 Led weekly meetings of 7th grade Language Arts PLC, attended monthly district meetings, and worked with fellow teachers to plan and improve instruction. Together with PLC members, designed a comprehensive Corrective Instruction plan which was later presented at a school faculty meeting. Academic Team Leader, Aug. 2011-present Primary contact for team of 4 teachers and 100 students; responsible for all primary paperwork (PEPs, student information), updating team website, planning field trips, and distributing information to the team.
