Britannica Senior School Guided Tour K12
The Senior High School Home Page is part of Britannica Online School Edition, which offers separate home pages for three different grade levels; this is designed for Senior High School students from Years 10-12. To help you use the site more effectively we have created this short tour. It will guide you from the Senior High School Home Page through to a search results page and an article page. In addition, it will show you an example from our large collection of Learning Materials.
The Home Page is an entryway to all the resources available on the site.
Search
Find information quickly and easily by searching Encyclopdia Britannica, Current Journal/Magazines, the Webs Best Sites and various Multimedia. Simply type in a word or phrase and click Go.
Gives you instant access to detailed profile and summary information for your country or continent.
Lets you read about the many faces and places of your country.
Advanced Search
The Advanced Search allows you to refine your search to purely articles, multimedia or websites. Use the Search Tips to help learn more about it.
News Feeds
Updated daily and makes for an interesting read about the worlds current events.
Learning Materials
Have fun learning with interactive Study Guides, Website/ Encyclopedia Activities, Manipulatives and Learning Action. Topics include English, Maths, Science and Social Studies (HSIE).
Video Collection
Find selected Video Clips and Extended Play Videos organised by subject.
Britannica Spotlights
Explore the multimedia presentations on a variety of topics from Shakespeare to Nobel Prize-winners.

Several different sources of information are available, displayed in two columns. Encyclopdia Britannica Encyclopedia articles written for students from Years 10+.
Learning Materials
If there are any supporting learning materials related to the topic you have searched for they will appear under the Multimedia section.
Search Again
You can also quickly see search results from other levels by entering a word in the Search Again box then selecting a library from the menu and clicking Go.
The Article
The text of the article appears in the centre of the page. All media that accompany articles is arranged to the left of the text. To see a larger version of an image or play a media element, click on it. Longer articles are divided into separate pages; youll find a link to the next section at the top and bottom of the page.
Table of Contents
You can also go directly to different sections of the article by clicking the headings of the articles Table of Contents, which appear on the left side of the page.
Save to Workspace
Create project folders and save your favourite articles, videos and photos in your own personal Workspace.
Print
If youd like to print an article, you can switch to a printer-friendly format. You can share an article with a friend via e-mail.
Look Up Words
If you are unsure of the meaning of a word, doubleclick it to look it up in MerriamWebsters Student Dictionary.
Citations
If you plan to refer to an article in a report or paper, we provide correctly formatted citations. Just click on the Cite Article button at the top of the article or scroll to the base of the article and copy and paste.
Switch Libraries
If youd like to find encyclopedia articles and content at a lower reading level, use the buttons at the bottom of the page to switch to a different library. Choose Middle School for Years 5 to 9 or Primary School for K to 5.
