Call for Papers is currently open. MATCOMP13 invites all interested researchers to send their papers, in order to be reviewed by the Scientific Committee. Registration and Online Registration are open. Discounts are offered to AEMAC members. Important discounts are also offered for early registration (before March 15).

SUBMISSION INFORMATION
Papers are invited on the topics outlined and others falling within the scope of the meeting. Abstracts of no more than 300 words should be submitted as soon as possible. Abstracts should clearly state the purpose, results and conclusions of the work to be described in the final paper. We strongly encourage the submission of abstracts electronically. If you prefer, abstracts can be sent by email, to the Conference Secretariat. Please include your name, full address and conference topic on all submissions. Final acceptance will be based on the full-length paper, which if accepted for publication, must be presented at the conference.

LOCATION
Algeciras is the most important town in Campo de Gibraltar. Algeciras Bay is a strategic point of the Strait, where the waters of the Mediterranean Sea open to the Atlantic Ocean. This is the main reason why here is the port with the highest freight traffic in Spain, and the main sea bridge between Europe and Africa.

CONFERENCE VENUE
MATCOMP13 will take place at the Reina Cristina Hotel, Algeciras, located next to the Algeciras Bay Port, and right in the middle of the old town center. This is the oldest hotel on the Costa del Sol, opened in 1902. Since then it has had a clientele of Spanish and English aristocracy and international personalities, including King Alfonso XIII, the Count of Paris, the Sultan of Johore, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Marshall Patain, the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium and Maria Jose of Italy, Orson Welles, Umberto of Italy... The hotel is located a few kilometers away from the clear waters of Tarifa and its magnificent beaches, the golf courses at Sotogrande, and Natural Parks as the Parque del Estrecho and the Parque de los Alcornocales.

MATCOMP 13
MATCOMP 13 is the 10th conference organized by AEMAC, the Spanish association of composite materials. This is the latest in the successful series of meetings starting in Sevilla 1995 and continued in Madrid 1997, Malaga 1999, Gijon 2001, Zaragoza 2003, Valencia 2005, Valladolid 2007, San Sebastian 2009 and Gerona 2011
Different definitions of composite material have been proposed. The one developed by K.K. Chawla (Composite Materials: Science and Engineering. Springer-Verlag. New York. 1987) is especially remarkable. According to this definition, a composite is a material that fulfils the following conditions: - It is artificially made (thus excluding from the definition natural materials as wood) - It is formed by two or more phases or compounds, ehich are phisically and/or chemically different, suitably arranged and separated by a defined interface. - Its properties may not be achieved by any of its isolated compounds. The motifs for the initial development of this new kind of materials is to be found in the growing demand of increasingly more rigid, resistant and light materials, for industrial fields as aeronautics and aerospatial, power industry, civil engineering, etc, during 1960s. The requests for material properties have been changed and improved, while conventional materials have not been able to fulfil those requests simultaneously. This fact was the reason behind the new increase on composites research, in order to satisfy the requirements of the different users. These composite systems behave in forms any of its individual compounds are able to perform, therefore presenting a great advantage, and an important flexibility in design tasks. As a start, this offers the opportunity of designing a taylor-made material, according to the required specifications. This ability is more important that it may seem, as this means we may start with the most efficient design (for example, an aerospacial structure, an automobile, a ship hull, or an electric-powered engine), and then designing and taylor-making the material that allows to build such a device. Nowadays, the development of our society still depends on the need of reducing the energy consumption, which demands more and more resistant and rigid structures. Composites are the main response to these needs. The important advantages they offer, opposed to conventional materials, are very remarkable. This fact justifies the important research and development efforts are being carried on composites. With the objetive of reinforcing these tasks, MATCOMP13 has been established as the better available support for the research, development and innovation on composites in Spain.
