4 = 95 = Outstanding. Indicators include:

Selects appropriate and efficient strategies to solve problems Executes mathematical procedures accurately Justifies all mathematical statements in an efficient and accurate manner Uses efficient mathematical reasoning and draws valid conclusions Uses mathematical terminology and notation appropriately Eloquently communicates process and solution Finds connections within the material and to real-world situations Uses models appropriately to understand the problem or situation

3.5 = 90 = Good. Your work is nearly outstanding, but includes minor (non-fatal) computational errors or slight notational errors.

3 = 80 = Proficient. Indicators include:

Selects appropriate but possibly inefficient strategies to solve problems Work includes minor (non-fatal) computational errors Justifies all mathematical statements Uses appropriate reasoning to draw conclusions Limited appropriate use of mathematical language and notation Explains, with some difficulty, their process and solution

To borrow a quote from the original Karate Kid: Fear does not exist in this dojo, does it? No, Sensei! Pain does not exist in this dojo, does it? No, Sensei! Defeat does not exist in this dojo, does it? No, Sensei! EXTRA CREDIT does not exist in this dojo, does it? No, Sensei! No extra credit will be given. For any reason. Dont even ask.

Grading

Because Im basing your grade almost strictly on what you know, I will no longer be using grades as rewards or punishment for compliance and good behavior. I will instead use your citizenship grade to serve this purpose. My goal will be to help you develop perseverance, responsibility, respect, and honesty skills you will find invaluable in the real world. You will begin each six weeks with a 100 for a citizenship grade. Points will be deducted as indicated below. (This list is not exhaustive I can deduct for infractions not listed as I see fit): Deductions from your citizenship grade will be reflected on your report card in the following way: Citizenship Grade 80-100 70-79 60-69 <60 Report Card E S N U

Infraction Out of dress code this includes no I.D. (you lose points even if you correct it) you will still get a referral Tardy you must still get a tardy pass Leaving a mess not putting away calculator, throwing away trash, putting things you used away, etc. Sleeping, playing on phone/tablet, playing cards, playing chess, etc. during lesson Not watching homework videos Not participating in class completing in class assignments and activities Cheating this includes you cheating off someone else as well as you allowing someone to cheat off you (this could result in disciplinary action and/or your removal from AP)

Requirements for Reassessment You will only be allowed to reassess one standard per day, so dont procrastinate! You must complete the Request to Reassess form found on my website. This must completed at least one day in advance. You must complete at least three tasks in order to prepare for your reassessment. These tasks can include, but are not limited to the following: o Watch (or re-watch) any homework videos associated with the standard o Complete any classwork related to the standard that you might not have completed already o Come in for tutoring (this must be scheduled with me and you cannot reassess on the same day that you receive tutoring) o Complete an extra practice assessment (see me) o Post to our class blog. You can share a struggle, explain a concept, or share a resource youve found relating to the standard you want to reassess. o Analyze your mistakes and contribute to the Quiz Shaming Wall O Shame o Come up with your own way to prove to me that you are prepared to reassess the standard o Be prepared to provide proof when you come to reassess and dont waste my time or your time by coming unprepared!

Attempts mathematical strategies to solve problems Work includes minor computational or conceptual errors Justifies most but not all mathematical statements Evidence of confused reasoning or misunderstanding of the problem Limited appropriate use of mathematical language and notation Limited ability to make connections to other topics Limited use of appropriate models or representations

1 = 60 = Beginning. Indicators include: Selects an inappropriate strategy Makes major conceptual or serious (fatal) computational errors Does not justify most of the mathematical statements Does not use mathematical reasoning Little, no use, or inappropriate use of mathematical language and notation Disorganized and unclear work No attempt to make connections to other topics Does not appropriately use a model or representation
