There has not been a government of England since 1707, putting into effect the terms of the Treaty of Union, joined England and Scotland to form the Kingdom of Great Britain.

The weather is damp relatively frequently and is changeable. The coldest months are January and February, the latter particularly on the English coast, while July is normally the warmest month. Months with mild to warm weather are May, June, September and October. Rainfall is spread fairly evenly throughout the year.

A AS SH HO OR RT TH HIIS ST TO OR RY Y At the end of Roman rule over Britain, (the southern part of Great Britain), the island was invaded by both Celts from Scotland and Ireland as Germanic peoples come from the current Netherlands, Germany and Denmark, mainly Anglo, Saxons and Jutes.

These tribes eventually merged with each other and, to some extent, with the local population, mainly Britons and founded a series of kingdoms in southeast Britain. In this area the Franks gave the Latin name Anglae terra ('Land of the Angles'), which later came to be used in most of Europe. Later the English themselves translated this name as England.

M MO ON NU UM ME EN NT TS S The British monuments tell the story of the country through various styles, such as Baroque, Gothic, classical or Edwardian. The most impressive monuments and most reputable are in the city of London and in the Thames Valley.

The Big Ben is probably best known, is like the Eiffel Tower in Pars. It is his most famous ancient emblem. It is dating from 1859, located at one end of the Palace of Westminster. For 150 years it has been giving time to Londoners. The chime sounds every hour and diffused means holidays.

There is also the Tower of London, which was built in the eleventh century, by order of William, The Conqueror, who sought to defend the entrance to London via the Thames. It was used as a prison in the fifteenth century. Now a museum, where they keep the crown jewels that shine in inauguration ceremonies.

Bridge Tower Bridge is another great attraction. It was completed in 1894, during the reign of Queen Victoria. Its drawbridge allows the passage of large-tonnage ships. Has twin Gothic towers and connected by a walkway. From here you get amazing views of Tmesis.

Other important places to go are the Trafalgar Square and all the landmarks along the Thames. From the Tower of London, you can see from the River Thames and Tower Bridge.

BFI Southbank This is a great movie maker. The films presented are good, plus a tour through the classic story "strip" of the sandals current releases. Tickets are very reasonable (cheaper, or certainly no more expensive than a commercial cinema). The seats are comfortable and properly raked so you can see the screen where you are sitting. The sound quality is also very good, much better than some movies I've been. Finally, the audience is good. You should not expect to have their enjoyment spoiled film to speak, slurping of drinks, popcorn and candy whisper, etc. This is the place to go if you're serious about film.

West End A walk through the West End night we enrich the senses, and can see the marquees of those works bearing years appearing as Mamma Mia, The Lion King and The Phantom of the Opera. In NY's Broadway, in Madrid's Gran Via, in London this is the street. Although do not go to see any work, walk around here at night is itself a spectacle of lights and colors. Very good atmosphere.

W T WH HA A TT TO OD DO O? ? In England as in many European cities coexist, inch by inch, the oldest man in the history of the most extravagant modernity (remember that this corner of the world gave us the skirt "mini" and the pure rock and roll) and greener gardens and sumptuous. But England is much more than London, you can visit its most prominent landmarks either its historical or natural beauty: Oxford and its many monuments Canterbury and its famous cathedral Bath and its hot springs so prized by the Romans. Iron Bridge and the Iron Bridge Gorge Blenheim and his palace Durham, cathedral, example of Norman architecture and its castle. Hadrian's Wall, a remnant of the Roman occupation, built in 122, was the border of Rome and the Barbarians. Canterbury with its renowned cathedral, the abbey and the church of Saint Martin, the oldest in England. Saltaire, impeccable model of a Victorian town houses for mill workers. Dorset and archaeological sites Devon, spectacular natural scenery and Buckfast Abbey The Studley Royal Park with the ruins of Fountains Abbey, located in the Yorkshire region. Blenheim Palace, not far from Oxford, was offered to John Churchill to reward his victory over the French in 1704.

(Remember: Can I have ... please? Cheers!) Go to Primark at lunch time, evening or weekend. Overcrowded. Bank change at rush hour. Go to Harrods (tourist, I know you're not going to buy) with torn jeans, short pants ... Deny you entry. Touch people to talk or get too close. Do not carry an umbrella with you. Settle on the left side of the escalators on the Tube. (Seriously, is it that you want to die?) Expect that the English speak Spanish. Believing that there will be no Spanish around you. Be careful what you say, you never know who may understand. Go to Abbey Studios to take a picture of the pedestrian crossing of the Beatles. (Not the original zebra crossing traffic will kill you) Look people "weird" boldly. Here everyone goes as you want. You have all the earmarks of being a tourist and nobody looks bad. Pouting or scream when someone crosses in front of you spoiling that picture so cool that you were going to do in front of Big Ben. Some people in this town have jobs to go to. Go to Camden or Notting Hill on a Saturday. Believing that no one cares. If you ask someone (politely) that I take a photo of you and your friends, or you explain how to get somewhere ... in 95% of cases are very friendly. If you do not speak English, waiting to hear someone speaking Spanish (do not take more than 20 seconds) and ask. Saying "I'm lost" in response to a Spanish Londoner who has been looking at the map overwhelmed and asked you if you can help. Pretending to see the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace introducing yourself in just 20 minutes before the start of the parade. Take the metro to get to / from Piccadilly / Leicester Square / Charing Cross / Westminster / Covent Garden. What will it take you down to the subway, catch, change and rise to the surface is more than you'll soon walk. It's a nice ride and easy to find these sites. Confuse Tower Bridge with London Bridge. London Bridge is a simple concrete bridge without interest. The one you want to see is Tower Bridge, the blue beams. Confusing the National Gallery (old paintings) with the British Museum (mummies) Complain time. Some stoically endured all year, you few days.
