Footnotes The American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM)s HIV Specialist (www.aahivm.org) This credentialing program is the first and only clinical credentialing program offered domestically and internationally to physicians , specializing in HIV care. HIV care providers become designated HIV Specialists after meeting experience and education requirements (set by American Board of Internal Medicine----i.e. manage at least 50 patients living with HIV/AIDS per year for three years; focus on HIV medicine as a significant part of their clinical practice; and complete a minimum of 50 credits of HIVrelated CME over the preceding 3 years. and successfully completing a rigorous exam on HIVspecialized care) Letters AAHIVS will be suffixed after their , and successfully completing a rigorous exam on HIV-specialized care.
