and our own experience. Prophetic symbols are all around us in everyday life and are there to guide us d own the right path. But you have to know how to interpret them before they will do any good, and this page is here to help. I have gathered the following univer sal symbols for you to study, and hopefully drawn your own conclusions as to the ir meanings. I say draw your own conclusion because just like everything else in t he Craft, symbol meanings are very personal. They could mean one thing to me, bu t something totally different to you. The following symbols are very vague, but they are a good starting point for you to find a deeper meaning. These symbols can be used to interpret all sorts of divination techniques such a s tea leaf reading, mirror/crystal scrying, cloud/fire gazing, dreams meanings, etc.. You could even go on a nature walk with a particular question in mind, and try to find the answer within nature itself. Look for patterns in the trees, ro ck formations, different animal or insects that cross your path.I think you get t he drift. A Acorn: youth, strength, a man, a start for an accomplishment, growth. Anchor: end of a journey, successful end to a business deal or a personal deal, a problem suddenly solved. Arrow: a disagreement, a letter or news, direct action is in order.

B Basket: a gift to be given or received, comfort and security. Bell: good news, wedding possible. Bird: good or bad news depending upon other symbols, a flight/ possible journey. Book: wisdom and learning. Broom: an end to a problem, domestically/settling down. Butterfly: insincerity, spiritual contact, metamorphosis

C Castle: unexpected financial gain, a good living. Cage: isolation, imprisonment, restriction. Camel: a long journey, the need to save energy and resources. Cat: a female friend, domestic problems, independence. Chair: need for relaxation, entertainment. Church: marriage, a serious illness but not death. Coffin: end of a matter, a long but not deadly illness. Clover: good fortune, success. Crescent: the Goddess, a wish will be granted.

Cross (roman ): suffering, hardship. Cross (solar +): closeness with God, working with nature. Cup: love, a close friendship, harmony.

D Dagger: dangers, business problems. Dog: companionship, loyalty, faithfulness. Duck: plenty, wealth, success.

E Elephant: advice needed, maybe from an old friend. Egg: fertility, a new start, creativity. Eye: awareness, evaluation or inspection.

F Fan: disloyalty, infidelity, things hidden. Fence: defense, isolation. Fish: riches, sexuality, productivity. Flag: warning, defense is necessary. Flower: an unhappy love affair.

G Gate: opportunity, advancement. Glove: a challenge, foolishness, nobility. Gun: power to gain control, trouble, adultery.

H Hammer: hard work that will be rewarded, building. Hand: help will be given/received, friendship. Harp: contentment Heart: love or lover, confidence. Horse: work and strength Horseshoe: good luck, protection, starts of a new enterprise. House: security, comfort, authority.

Key: opportunity, mystery, understanding. Kite: warning of caution, think before you act. Knife: a misunderstanding, duplicity, treachery. Knot: marriage, binding, restrictions.

L Ladder: advancement, rise or fall in status. Lock: protection, security, concealments.

M Man: a stranger, a visitor, help from someone unexpected. Mirror: reversal, wisdom, seeing the other side of things. Moon: the Goddess, intuition, guidance. Mountain: an obstacle ahead, a challenge, hindrance. Mouse: poverty, theft, bad condition. Mushroom: complication of business, shelter, food.

O Owl: Wisdom, spiritual contact.

P Palm Tree: a rest period, temporary relief, a possible vacation. Parrot: gossip, a flamboyant person. Pineapple: good things hidden by a rough exterior.

R Ring: wedding, eternal, an unbroken commitment.

S Scales: balance, justice, legal matters. Scissors: domestic quarrels, double-dealing, separation. Snake: an enemy, a personal hurt such as a love affair. Star: divine protection, good luck, destiny.

T Tree: a goal achieved, comfort, stability. Turtle: defense against the odds, slow moving gains.

U Umbrella: a temporary shelter, a small amount of protection. Unicorn: purity, nature, had or will have fairy blessings.

W Wheel: advancement because of effort, completion, gain, money. Windmill: huge business dealings, factors working together towards one goal.
