Tufts University, Medford, MA

2008-2009
Research in Wind Energy: Part of a team of upperclassmen and graduate engineers researching the
efficacy of residential wind turbines to power homes and small businesses. Our goal is to maximize the
power efficiency of vertical axis turbines by studying and developing rotor blades of varying shape and
material.
• Responsible for structural analysis of turbine mounting systems
• Multidisciplinary collaboration with professors on installation and wiring logistics
• Drafting and solid model design of parts to be machined

Tufts University, Medford, MA

Spring 2009
Design Project: At the behest of my mech. engineering professor, I contributed to a senior group’s inventive
design process of a skateboard that implemented digital technology to give real-time feedback to the rider.
• Worked as a consultant, offering insight and ideas for product improvement and market validity.

University of California at San Diego, La Jolla, CA

2007-2008
Biofuel Production and Testing: Member of Biofuels Awareness and Action Network (BAAN). The
goal of the group was to build a reactor that converts waste grease from cafeterias into clean, useable
biofuel.
• Participated in microscale testing and analysis of both collected samples and product fuel using gas
chromatography and mass spectroscopy.
