How Apple Established and Strengthens its Brands Need to be assigned: (Introduction) Establishment of Apple Brand Apple has made a name for itself as one of the largest companies in the world that designs and manufactures consumer electronic and software products. The Apple brand was established on April 1, 1976 in Cupertino, California when Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak sold the Apple I personal computer kit that was designed by Wozniak. Apple I went on sale in July 1976 for a price of $666.66. On January 3, 1977 it was incorporated as Apple Computer, Inc. for the first 30 years of its existence. The word Computer was removed on January 9, 2007, due to the company starts to reflect on the ongoing expansion into consumer electronics and the introduction of the iPhone. During its first fiscal year ending September 29, 2008 its annual sales for the US was $32.48 billion. According to Apple Inc. New World Encyclopedia (2013), Apple Inc. has established a unique reputation in the consumer electronics industry. Apple has attracted a customer base that is devoted to the company and its brand, particularly in the United States. Fortune magazine named the most admired company in the United States in 2008.
