These two sections will be implemented sequentially with separate time limits. The examination will be 140 minutes. Exam Name: XAT Conducted by: Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur Exam Date: First Sunday of January Registration Dates: Beginning of September to last week of November Mode: Paper based test (PBT) Exam Format: It was divided into an initial section of two hours and twenty minutes, consisting of multiplechoice questions that tested Quantitative Ability (Mathematics), Verbal Ability (English) and Data Interpretation/Logical Reasoning skills and a final section of 40 minutes which contained General Awareness questions and an Essay question. The XAT is quite similar to the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs, except that the CAT has no Essay and General Awareness sections. Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning The areas tested are: Reading Comprehension - Standard reading comprehension passages. Logical Reasoning - Critical Reasoning (short passage), Inductive Reasoning, Critical Reasoning (Strengthening / Weakening). The Paper Based Test is being conducted on the first Sunday of the February, May, September and December from 1000-1230 hours. A candidate can take NMAT up to a maximum of 3 times (first attempt plus 2 retake attempts) including no shows, if he / she wish to. There has to be a gap of at least 15 days between two successive attempts. For candidates having multiple attempts, the best score (total and sectional) is considered for short listing purposes. The result for each attempt is declared separately, approximately 15 days after the test attempt.
