Spreadsheet assignment Due week six (by 5pm 23rd August 2013)
Background On advice from your financial advisor Sublime Financial Advisors, you purchased on 1stJuly 2010 a portfolio of shares. These purchases are included in a spreadsheet you have decided to develop to help you analyse the financial performance of your investments. Based on the price of the shares and the numbers purchased, determine the amounts invested in each company and the total investment package. You will need to access on-line sources to determine the value of each shareholding and the total value of the investment on the 30th June 2013 when the decision was made to sell all the shares. Calculate the profit/loss of each share holding and the percentage gain/loss for each share and the overall shareholding. In addition to possible changes in the share prices, dividends may be issued up to twice per year and you should record these as they contribute income during the holding period. These can be found from Yahoo Finance. To locate share prices you should open Yahoo Finance and type the share code into the box to display quotes. Set the appropriate date range to obtain the required prices and choose dividends only to display dividends for the period required. Note not all companies have issued dividends for a given period and a zero value should be used.

Completion Guidelines Tasks can be completed outside of class or attempted during class times. You should submit by the due date an appropriately named Excel file to your lecturer, along with a printout of the marking guide with your name inserted. You should change column widths as appropriate, rename work sheet tabs, format cells to display currency or percentage and change the overall appearance of the various work sheets to improve the appearance. The spreadsheet should be easy read and use. The templates provided in this assignment outline are a starting point. We expect that you will develop a spreadsheet that is easy to read, use, and understand. Your charts (graphs) should be appropriately titled and labelled. It is preferable that these graphs are shown on separate worksheets. This is an individual assignment. Your lecturer or tutor will penalise any cases they find of collusion or plagiarism (see page 16 and 17 of the CIS1000 Subject Outline). Submission requirements. Submit a softcopy of the spread sheet file to your lecturer. The file name must include your full name or student number. Your name should also appear in cell A1 in the first page of the spread sheet.
