W hy Yo u N e e d to s e e th i s ' O ff i c e M e e ts D & D ' - I ns p i r e d F a nt a s y S e r i e s

T o r o n t o , A B - Its a proven fact that it is now a geeks world and everyone is struggling to fit in. Shows like the humourous Big Bang Theory and the actionpacked Game of Thrones prove that fantasy and science are now way cooler than they used to be. Thats why Spencer Estabrooks knows he has a big hit on his hands with his new web series One Hit Die. Starring AMCs Hell on Wheels' Phil Burke, the first 4 episodes (prologue) of One Hit Die have just aired online; they combine the journey and adventure of a D & D game ( la Lord of the Rings) with the intimate aside interviews of the Office. Quick-paced and packed with humour, it will appeal to all walks of life, and of course, anyone who loves role-playing games. I have always loved both genres and I wanted to mix them in a different way. In One Hit Die our fantasy world is hermetically sealed, there are no real-life counterparts. The rules of the game that govern the characters are as real as the goblins they encounter, says Estabrooks. This Thursday Estabrooks is traveling to the Toronto where he will be screening the series as well as some exclusive non-web, behind the scenes videos at the Toronto Fan Expo. Im excited to meet some of the fans in person, weve had such a great response to our series. The project was funded by the Alberta Foundation of the Arts and now Estabrooks is trying to raise money to fund a full season. All the money raised will go directly into production. A z u r u s - Phil Burke Phil Burke can currently be seen on the AMC hit show HELL ON WHEELS. He recently appeared in the Judd Apatow feature This Is 40 for Universal. Born in Toronto, Canada to immigrant parents from Ireland, Phil Burke attended The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. He has appeared in several plays and commercials in the New York area as well as independent features such as WIND WALKERS and IBID, both written and directed by Russell Friedenberg. Burke has also guest starred on NBC's hit show Law & Order, ABC's "The Good Wife" and had a recurring role on the NBC series Mercy.

One Hit Die is Screening Friday August 23 at 6pm in Room 713.
