This may be the best and most current presentation of the biological and medical orientation to
psychiatric disorders for the lay audience. It embodies the best of what modern psychiatry has to

Wolpe. J. The Practice of Behavior Therapy. New York: Pergamon Press, 1969. One of the first good
books on how to do behavior therapy by an early pioneer in those treatments. Much of what is
considered novel today in behavior therapies was described or anticipated by Wolpe in the 1950s
and 1960s.
