Introduce new metadata in Oracle UCM

This tutorial explains introducing a custom metadata in the Oracle UCM setup.

On the content server , follow these links,


Administration >> Admin Applets >> Configuration Manager >>
Information Fields tab >> Add (Input field name for the new metadata)

For entering predefined values as option list , select the option and setup the options for the
same , by clicking “configure”.

Add the required option values by editing the list, as below:

• The new metadata gets stored in the DOCMETADEFINITION table

• And the list options in the OPTIONSLIST table

• And on the check-in page , the newly added metadata gets displayed as:

• Once check-in/content updated , the metadata info :

• UCM gives you the option of just updating the new metadata without adding a new
version of the content.
To do this, without checking out the content, just go to the content, and opt for
“update” option.
