Idaho Falls is situated along the Snake River and is home to many recreational opportunities. Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park and several other popular destinations lie in Idaho Falls backyard. The city is small with 58,000 people, but has all the amenities of a big city. From shopping to arts and entertainment, Idaho Falls has something for everyone.

Commerce. Rigby is the county seat of Jefferson County and is half way between Idaho Falls and Rexburg. Its claim to fame is that Rigby is the birthplace of television.
Challis
A destination for outdoor recreation, Challis has it all from hunting and fishing to the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. A favorite event of locals is the Braun Brothers Reunion.
Ammon
Ammon is located just east of Idaho Falls and is home to several major retailers. According to Wikipedia, the city has more than doubled since 2000, making it one of the fastest-growing cities in Idaho. Its close proximity to Idaho Falls gives
Rexburg
Rexburg is home to Brigham Young University Idaho and is the largest city and county seat of Madison County. Located 28 miles northeast of Idaho Falls, Rexburg is a stop on the way to many outdoor adventures.

Hole is a tourist destination. The small community offers outdoor fun, dining and events. The town offers an old west feel to top off the fun.
Island Park
Island Park is nestled in the worlds largest caldera, according to its chamber of commerce. The area is a popular place for fishing and hiking during the summer. The area is also home to several cabins available to rent out for a weekend adventure.
Salmon
The Lewis and Clark Expedition passed through the area that is now Salmon as it followed the Salmon River on its way to what is now Montana, according to Wikipedia. Sacajawea was born near the same area. The Salmon River is a popular place for white water rafting and outdoor recreation.
Arco
A short drive away from many major cities, makes Arco a great rural community to call home according to its Chamber of Commerce. The town is most notably near the Idaho National Laboratory and Craters of the Moon.

Shelley
Home to Spud Day, Shelley is located just south of Idaho Falls. The town is close enough to Idaho Falls that residents enjoy all the perks of a big city while maintaining the small town lifestyle.
West Yellowstone
Located just outside Yellowstone National Park, West Yellowstone is the western entrance to the park and a popular place for travelers to stay overnight. The town is home to just over 1,200 people and is supported by tourism according to the West Yellowstone Chamber of
Sun Valley
This resort town has it all for the traveler looking to get away from it all. From outdoor recreation to music and art, Sun Valley is a great place to go this summer.
Blackfoot
According to Blackfoots Chamber of Commerce, the community is an oasis in the desert with many attractions for citizens and visitors. The town is home to Jensens Grove and the Eastern Idaho State Fair.

SAND DUNES: If off-roading is your thing, head out to St. Anthony and take a ride on the St. Anthony sand dunes. According to www.visitidaho. org, youll nd more than 11,000 acres of white quartz dunes that reach heights of up to 400 feet. REXBURG CABLE FACTORY: If youre looking for a unique thrill, try the Rexburg Cable Factory, located off Highway 20 at Rainbow Lake in Rexburg. WOLVERINE CANYON: Bird watchers will delight in a hike through Wolverine Canyon. Located southeast of Shelley, the rugged canyon follows Wolverine Creek through a variety of habitats. CAMAS NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE: Located 36 miles north of Idaho Falls, the Camas National Wildlife Refuge provides habitat for a variety of migratory birds.
