MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS 2013/14

This is your last opportunity to renew your 2013/14 membership with the club. Membership renewals usually close by the 31 July, but we have extended this period to 1. September. After this date, all of those who are not financial will have to RENEW AS NEW MEMBERS. So please make the effort and see your table manager or send a cheque, renewal form and vaccination certificate to the Secretary, P.O. Box 445. Katoomba.

MEETINGS
Bullaburra Progress Hall, Corner Noble Street & GWH, Bullaburra Time: 7:30 pm General Meetings 1st Thursday of odd months: March, May, July, September & November. All club members are invited to attend General Meetings. Committee Meetings 1st Thursday of even months: February, April, June, August, October & December If you have any issues or concerns you want to raise to the committee please see a committee member. Annual General Meeting 1st Thursday in September. All members are most welcome to attend. A light supper is provided after the meeting. Instructors Meetings St Albans Church Hall, Megalong Street, Leura. 7 pm. Boddington Nursing Home Visit Boddington Drive, Wentworth Falls, off Tablelands Road Every Friday at 10:45 am. Council has given permission for dogs to train down at the Lawson Oval on Wednesday and Thursday, 8 am -12 pm. Only dogs training for trials will be permitted to use the Oval.

Weve never had dogs before, so it is all very new to us, and thankfully we have had the Blue Mountains Dog Training Club to help us out! (Youll understand when you meet us Ed.) book reviews
Each month it would be great to hear from members if theyve read a book or seen a video that theyd recommend (dog related, of course!).

This month Ill recommend Inside of a Dog by Alexandra Horowitz. A spur of the moment purchase at an airport recently, as the subtitle says, this book is all about what dogs see, smell and experience, with evocative insights into the authors relationship with her own dog, Pump. I confess I havent finished this book as yet, but the section on the nose has already made me really consider the intensity of Jacobs sniffing experiences when we go for walks. New Members join the first week each month from February to December bringing your dogs current vaccination certificate. Tea is provided after the 1st session, all are invited to stay and socialize. FOR updated information about the possible closure of Lawson oval due to wet weather, telephone the BMCC oval hotline on 4780-5617. A recorded message will inform you if the oval is OPEN or CLOSED on that day. If the message says the oval is OPEN, then training will automatically be held on that day. Blackheath classes will always take place - if the oval is closed we have an area adjacent to the oval where classes are held.
